Anniversary Dinner Recommendations (On a Budget)

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a romantic anniversary dinner in the West Chester, PA area. I'm all about ordering in and lighting candles as we are living on a tight budget, but my husband really would prefer to go out somewhere nice. I'm looking for a place with nice atmosphere and good food (my husband is european and really enjoys fine dining) but that's not too pricey. After all, the babysitter takes a significant portion of our overall budget :) Thanks in advance for all your ideas - I appreciate it!

Depending on what you order, it can get pricey, but there are delicious options that are less than $20 at The Olive Tree, a Greek Restaurant in Lionville. it is BYOB so no alcohol costs. it's small and has a great atmosphere. everything is homemade and we love it. to stay on your budget, get a restaurant.com gift certificate prior to going. you spend $50 on dinner and get $25 off. can't beat that deal.

I would recommend the High Street Cafe. It is Cajun/ creole cuisine with a lovely low light atmosphere. I beleive you can even bring your own wine. The entrees are a bit pricey BUT the portions are so large that a salad and starter were enough for me (although I brought half my starter home just so I could enjoy a delicious desert). On Friday night it did not get crowded until after 8:30 so if you eat a bit earlier you can enjoy some quiet talk as well. They will accept reservations. We just celebrated our 16 yr anniversary there in January.

Congratulations!

Hi K.!

We really love Culinaria on Marsh Road in north Wilmington. It’s very small and intimate. Most of the entrees are in the mid-teens and are outstanding. I recommend the Salmon! http://www.culinariarestaurant.com/

Doc McGrogans (seafood) - West Chester
Zwei (asian) - Exton
Carrabba's (italian) - Fraser
Seven Stars Inn (cozy, great food) - Phoenixville
Bonefish Grill - Exton

TOP RECOMMENDATION: Big Easy Saloon in Paoli. Fine dining with a cajun flair, great atmosphere. Call ahead - sometimes they have live music (like jazz, sax players, etc). Very cool place.
