Go and buy Super Baby Foods by Ruth Yaron. It's terrific and will be a great source of information.

At 6 months, the veggies you're providing should be adequate. I would add peas and squash to the mix too. Definitely more fruit like bananas, apples, peaches, apricots, etc. At 9 months, you can start introducing cauliflower and broccoli and maybe make a soup with veggies including pepper and onion. Don't make those items by themselves. You can also start introducing meat at that age too. Here's a site that I have found very helpful:

Only introduce new foods every 3-4 days. You need to check for allergies to anything she eats. Also, only give her stage 1's at this point. The veggies are peas carrots sweet potato and green beans. I usually started to set up a breakfast lunch dinner schedule at this time. I'd give cereal and a fruit or veggie at each meal.

hi rose, i dont know if im misunderstanding, but it sounds like you are making your own baby food? if so, they say to start with veggies, then fruits, then meats. i was very strict with my first, less so with each baby after :). by my third, i basically would give her whatever they had organic in the grocery store. just get a little kitchen aid mixer and keep it on the counter. steam or boil the hard things, like carrots, first, but most things like fruit can just go right into the chopper, keeps more nutrition that way. i put them in skin and all, healthier that way. just be sure to do one new food at a time, it helps to keep a list or calendar. give a new food for about 3 days to be sure there are no reactions, then you can just add it to her menu whenever once you know its ok. you should wait for a year to do dairy. i also waited a while for meat. i experimented a lot with meat, it was so gross when i pureed it. a little better when i added some apple or banana or sweet potato. in the end, the best way i found was to boil the chicken till it fell apart into strings, then chop it up tiny and add some pureed fruit. when i boiled it, i would boil it in the leftover water from the greens for extra nutrition. she has probably already had her basic grains from the cereal, but follow the same 3 day rule with those. the superfood book is a great guideline and has some great ideas, though i felt they really made it more complicated than it has to be, its a good supplement. they say not to make your own spinach or carrots because of the high nitrates. i dont know where you live, but if you really cant get any other fresh produce by you, you can use frozen. they have organic frozen too. dont use canned, frozen is much more nutritious. sometimes frozen is even healthier than fresh depending on how long the fresh takes to get from the farm to your table. most frozen is flash frozen right after harvest and retains a lot more nutrients than the fresh that takes a while to get where its going. if you have any local farms, its the perfect time of year right now to take advantage. good luck and have fun with it. and remember that just because she doesnt like something once or twice or 10 times doesnt mean she wont the next time. when there was something they didnt like so much, i would put a little on the spoon and then dip it into something like banana. banana is the worlds perfect baby food, so healthy, in its own little package, travels so nice, and all you need is a fork to mush it up. dont forget about avocado too, so healthy. sweet potato, squash, also great. make big batches and fridge/freeze small portions. onestepahead.com has great little cube containers, but she will outgrow them so fast anyway. take care.

At 6 months she can have any stage 1 veggies. You should give her 1 new flavor every 3 days or so to see if she is allergic. Most of the ones commercially available are low allergy. You can also make her your own but some can produce gas like broccoli or cauliflower so get to those once she has mastered the ones you are trying now. Yes, continue giving her one jar of fruit and one of veggie with baby cereal mixed with your milk or formula. You can give her 3 jars a day but make sure most of her nutrition is still milk. Meat you should wait on until about 8 or 9 months, some say a year. But you could try a stage 2 food that has meat and veggies mixed together at around 8 or 9 months.
