Babysitter or Daycare?

Currently my 15 month old goes to daycare half days three days a week. My daughter is a month old and I have a great arrangement with my work that allows me to work from home so that I don't have to put her in daycare, but that arrangement ends in November.
My husband and I have talked about hiring a baysitter to watch both children 4 1/2 hours a day 3 days a week at that time, but we don't know where to start looking or if it's even economical to do so. Can anyone offer advice or recommendations for finding a babysitter that won't cost more than daycare?

What can I do next?

I would place ads with local universities with the teaching/child development departments. I think you should expect to pay about $50 per day (about 10-12$ per hour).

depends on what you are paying for daycare....

babysitter will be about 8 an hour on the lower side.

care . com is a great place to start - a college student might be available :)

look on craigslist.org for a nanny

expect to pay 8-12 an hour for in home childcare

but day care for 2 kids at a center will cost about the same

the sitter might even be able to do a bit of cleaning for you

i had a nanny when i worked and it was great

If you go to www.michigan.gov website you can punch in your zip code and find licensed in home daycares and centers in your area. There are also a couple of websites www.daycarematch.com and sittercity.com. Make sure they are licensed.
Good luck.
