It's been almost 6 years or so since I've been on birth control & I've decided to go back on for my skin & regulation. I've been on it for a couple weeks now & I've noticed that I've been feeling naseous lately, tired, & a little edgy. I'm not sure if it's because of the pills, or maybe just the time period i'm going thru right now.
Does anyone know if these are normal symptoms of going on birth control & maybe they'll subside after I've been on them for a while? Or maybe I'm just having one of those months?
I experienced this after having my first son. The issue was that the estrogen dosage was too high and that was what was making me sick. I tried 4 different kinds of birth control and never found anything that didn't make me sick or give me headaches. But every time I would stop taking the pills it would all go away and I would feel fine.
After years of migraines caused by the pill, I will never take one again. We have two children, 2 and 4 years old. Inbetween kids we used spermicide and condoms. ( Which is partly why we have the second child, oops suprise, but a great surprise) Since we are now done having our children my husband went and got fixed at the doctors office (funny it was his idea).
If I were you, I would try other methods of birth control before using a hormone again. It's not natural for us and it's not safe. Just my 2 cents.
You may want to talk to your doctor. I had the same problem and my doctor switched the kind of bc I was on and I no longer had the problem.
I tried 2 -- Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo and Yasmin -- they both made me nausuated for 3 months, but now it's b een 6 months and I don't notice it at all.
i never liked being on birth control because it made me bloated, irritable, and it broke my skin out. and this was the whole time that i was taking the pill. this i something that i think that you should talk to your dr about. there might be a diffrent pill or other type of birth control that you could use that won't cause these problems, if that is that the pill is causing yours.
My doc put me on Yasmin and the first 2 months(I think) were a little "rough" but after that I was fine and didn't have many side effects from it (mood swings).
Those are typical side effects of bc. I started the ring because it releases a low dose of horomones throughout the month so you don't have the up and down effects.

I take Yasmin and never had a problem with it.
i was on loestrin and it made me nautious as well and kinda irritated so it took a few months before i felt normal but it made my periods really really short and it worried me so i got off of it
the same thing happened to me when i was on the pill. the combination of hormones in the pill is very similar to what causes morning sickness (they make your body think you've already ovulated, so another egg is not released). does that make sense? i started taking mine at night, a little before i went to bed so it wasn't so bad. if it keeps up, see if you can get the same skin benefits from a lower-hormone pill.

I've only been on birth control pills once and for a very short period of time because of the emotional effects I was having from it (the "edgy" sounds especially familiar"). I've also become very much against the idea of injesting hormones, mostly because of the possibility of emotional effects but for other reasons as well. I currently have a copper non-hormonal IUD, and I'm very happy with it. The only side effect is that I have a significantly heavier menstural flow, which can be a pain, but for me it's worth it. I did face some resistance from doctors when I decided on an IUD, though, but never really got a reason why. I had to be insistent that this was the route I wanted to go and that I did not want hormones involved in my birth control.
