Ballerina Party Ideas

Let everyone decorate their own ballerina tiara! Cut them out of paper and have things like sequins, markers, boas, etc.

If you do a search on the internet for "angelina ballerina" and birthday, you should find a bunch of decorations and party ideas. Good luck!

Hi. when I was little my mom made cupcakes and put one little doll (like a polly-pocket size) in each cupcake and made the frosting look like her beautiful ballerina skirt. With cupcakes you don't have to use as many plates and forks :) maybe for a craft you can photocopy a coloring page of a little girl and have them all decorate her to look like a ballerina. something that is always fun is to tie shiny ribbon (like the kind you use to decorate presents) to the base of balloons so that when you you bounce them into the air they float back down (sort of like a jellyfish). if you have any empty paper towel rolls you could tie a long piece of streemer to the end and have them decorate the paper towel roll and then they could dance with thier ribbon wand. have a fun party. A Ballerina party will be great, and there are tons of ideas. I don't know how long you intend to entertain, but you can (obviously) invite kids and ask them to wear ballerina clothes (leotards and/or gym clothes). You can read a book from the Angelina Ballerina series, and do cake an ice cream (or other food too depending on the time). There is an adorable ballerina cake - I believe most grocery store bakeries make it, but it is a bundt cake with a barbie type doll shoved into the hole - the cake is frosted to look like the girl's dress (ball gown) and her head and torso sticks out of the top...

Get little tie on tutus for each guest. Maybe set up an obstacle course that the kids have to do ballet moves to get through (spinning forward, leaping over, etc.

One idea I had, is to find an actual ballerina..like a teen you know that takes ballet or something...have her come over and dance with the kids a little..teach them a couple ballet moves, and then read them a story or something? Kinda like a "special guest". I know your daughter would love it. There is a great christian ballet studio in vancouver, called "Joy of Dance", if you are at a loss, maybe you can call over there. I know the assistant director there, her name is Tasha Irwin, and she is awesome, and may be willing to help you out! Good Luck, and enjoy!

WHEW ---well--- depending on your budget --

1. you could have the children make tutus and t-shirts to dance in; ( buy net fabric at a fabric store and let the children string elastic through pre-cut slots --- and then tie the skirts on --- after they get their skirt the '''tightness'' they want- they could glue on glitter or stars or -and the same messy nonsense with t-shirts for the boys;
2. you could put a large mirror ( if one is available) somewhere so the children can practice stretch moves in the mirror ( maybe even fashion a bar for them to stretch on;

3. You could decorate with inexpensive ballet posters;

4. you could show a taped version of The Nutcracker ballet;

5. You could have make up for the children to get ''ready to dance''' -;
And be SURE to take a picture of your little guests before the party is done- oh those should be some fantastic pictures.

NOTE you DONT need to do all these things- or all the fabulous ideas other Moms' suggest---3 or 4 at most will make your little girls eyes' shine ( remember - if you go all-out in a huge way now-- what will you do when she's 16?????)

When is her birthday? There are plenty of crafts at Oriental Trading, look up their website. There is a dance store called Petticoat Junction in Lynnwood, right on Highway 99 just North of 148th, by the Mukilteo Speedway on-ramp. They have plenty of little accessories and goodies, as well as tutus, etc...

I think it would be fun to call one of our local dance schools and see if you can maybe hire one of the student teachers to come give the party guests a mini-dance lesson! We just had our recital so the girls are on break and would probably love it! They love teaching the little girls. The school we go to is Camille's Dance Edge ###-###-####, you can speak with Camille or Jennifer. Jennifer is my daughter's teacher (my daughter is Amelia, she's in her tiny tots class). They're great!

If they say no, there's also Olympic Ballet in Edmonds you can try. Good luck, sounds like fun!

We have a ivory and a purple ballerina costume for stuffed animals. I have a package that includes an out fit and a animal with a hands on stuffing activity. or a new package that I am doing that is a "we have too many animals" party that has everyone bring an animal and they get the outfit for it.

I would read them a book and also have them do a game like pin the tutus on the ballerina. the kids could decorate the tutus before they play the actual game.

I read somewhere that you can ask a student at a dance school (like a teenager, etc) to come and show some moves to the girls at the party. Might be fun and inexpensive...
