Best Workout Video for Uncoordinated Beginners

Well I started Weight Watchers this year and have had success. Up to this point my "workout" has only been walking 2 miles most days but I am wanting to try something new. I've been looking into workout videos to try at home while the baby is sleeping and of course I've heard a lot about P90X but I feel it would be too intense for me at this point sooo...I am wondering if you ladies could recommend something that is effective and fun but not quite so intense as the P90X. I've heard about Slim in 6 or TurboFire?? Comments? Suggestions?

P.S. I am looking to still loose about 40-50lbs...if that gives you an idea about my weight situation without giving an actual weight ;-)

An easy work out video that I have and use when I get about 30 mins of free time at home is L. Sansone Walk at Home. It's a 3 mile weight loss walk. You walk 3 miles in 30 mins and it also includes some strenghting excerises and for one mile you use 1-2 lbs hand weights . It def gets me sweating and my heart rate up! When Im able to make it to my garage without kids I use my eliptical. I can do 3 miles on it in 25 mins and it's super easy plus Ive seen a huge difference since using it. With diet and exercise plus 2 months of weight loss Rx to get me started I lost 60 pounds last year and Ive started it up again this year and im planning on losing another 60! Hopefully!! I would say Tae Bo- the videos are fun, high energy, and moves are repetitive so you don't have to be super coordinated. Also, if you have cable and a DVR or VCR, why not try taping Fitness TV a few different kinds of shows to try out or some of the on-demand features have fitness videos for Free (Comcast did but we just switched to Wow). I did some of the on-demand ones and they were great and kept variety :) which is important so you don't get bored and you keep your muscles surprised!

Im on day 29 of jillians 30 day shred, im going to do it at least another 30 days because it is totally working, and its only 20 minutes a day. There are three levels, level 1 will ease you in and get you used to the endurance, you will see results as soon as you begin level 2.

Not only are there 3 levels but each level has 2 different styles of working out, high impact and low impact. Ive tried many other things and they have not worked this well. Its been less than a month and everyone is totally noticing.

on level two there is this 2 minute interval of twisting, and skating jumps that are literally toning me like crazy. I highly reccomend!

I love Moms Into Fitness Bootcamp 2 (the first one is also good). I am extremely uncoordinated and I can still do the workout and not feel like a fool. I get in a great workout in less than a 1/2 hour and the entire workout is customized for moms trying to lose baby weight or get back into shape after not exercising for a long time. So, there are tips there if you've had a c-section, for example.

Best of luck with Weight Watchers! I finally took off the baby weight last year with them and have found it easy to continue on after reaching my goal weight.

What do you like to do?
You're most likely to be consistent with something that's fun for you.

I like kickboxing and step areobics, so I'm a TaeBo junkie and I love Cathe Friedrich for step - amongst other things. Many Cathe fans started with The Firm, I find.

So before investing in something blindly, take a look at what you enjoy about workouts. Do you like constant change (do a set of moves and then go on to something else)? Do you like athletic stuff (like boxing, bootcamp), do you like step/dance?
Once you find that out, then you can find videos that correspond. www.collagevideo.com is a great website with TONS of instructors and styles. You can search under a style of workout, and then view clips of videos to see what looks good to you. There's also reviews from other users.
It's my go-to when I'm adding to my library!

I'm a loyal P90X-er. I won't lie, the thing is HARD, but it works. I would encourage you to go for it. I've done the whole thing more than 5 times, but now I just do my favorites when I can't get to the gym or outside for a ride or run (like when we got snowed in for 4 days... or when we're out of town - I use my bands in place of weights). There is a lot of help and support at the beachbody.com site. I've seen folks who needed to lose what you're looking to do, and then some, have great success with the program.

The thing you want to remember is not to push yourself too hard too fast. It can cause injury. You can do the workouts every other day and on the Lean version, then once you get going, move up to daily, then up to Classic.

Get a Polar Heart Rate Monitor. Best investment ever.

Try Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. There are 3 different work out levels on the DVD so you can start as a beginer and work your way up. Good luck and great job!!

I love 30 Day Shred, I've been doing it for several months and am really seeing results! That being said, I picked up a kettlebell for the first time recently and did a 15 minute kettlebell workout. OMG! Talk about a great cardio/strength combination. The movements themselves are not difficult, you don't need to be super coordinated to do them, but man, was I huffing and puffing! I'll definitely be incorporating the kettlebell into my workouts from now on.

30 day shred is good--if I can only find what my 3 yr old did with it. :) Also, Tony Horton is great so if you can find Power 90 or even Ten Minute Trainer. They are both great and you can go at your own pace until you feel confident with the workout.

Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred is easy. I have coordination problems (more balance) due to a bad foot (scar tissue in it from surgery a few years ago).

They do alot of jumping jacks and other things like that..and there is a level 1, 2 and 3...you advance as you feel ready to. Its about a $10 DVD and you need handweights (I had 2# and 5# ones..but bought 3# and settled on those for most of the things). A mat is nice if you have one too. I do it on carpet, but when I hit level 2 and was doing "plank" things, it helped to put my hands on a mat so they didn't slide on my carpet.

Im also doing the 30 day shred and I had not been working out prior to this. It lets you make it as easy or as hard as you want. I started at the first of Feb and have really changed my eating habits.. So far I am down about 11 pounds. I think this would be a great starter for you. Wal Mart for 10.00

As somebody who has been on here whining about P90X, let me concur with you. :P

Tony Horton also has 10-minute Trainer - it's good but I felt it was too easy for me. You can definitely make it harder by doing 2 or 3 10-minute sessions.

That being said, you can do P90X on the "lean" mode which is a bit different than "Classic." I will say (feeling badly after last week's rant) that I have lost almost 2 inches off my waist in under 3 weeks.

You can always go slower on the P90 tapes.

But I won't lie - they are hard as heck. :0

I've heard Walk at Home is a really good one.
Do you have any gaming systems? Biggest Loser for Wii or Knect is really good.
