J.,

I think go with whatever theme your doing. Like this year we're going to do a 'handy man' theme because my son LOVES anything manly-hammers, hard hats, gardening, etc. He turns 2 in September. So the other day I snapped a picture of him sitting on top of like 3 bags of mulch and had the lawn mower beside him and he was wearing jeans and a tee shirt. Really cute! I'm going to make the invitations with card stock. Not to expensive and really special! And they'll be something everyone likes instead of a plain invite from Walmart.

Hi J.!
You should be able to go to Wal-Mart or anywhere that does photo greeting cards and make one of those into an invitation. It's quick, easy and really not that expensive. Another idea is to make a word document invitation with her picture pasted into the document. Print them out in color and you should get a clear image. (of course it depends on your printers quality and how many you need)
Good luck to you! First birthdays are so exciting!
Blessings,

J.,

I do customized wrappers - they make great invitations - depending on the theme - it could be candy bar's, bubbles, popcorn, play-doh...

For my son's first birthday, I did the stamps that had his picture on them. It was something different, and everyone seemed to notice. Subtle, yet thoughtful!

We found photo cards at Target that were like the Christmas cards that everyone is sending out. HP sells them and you can design it yourself and use whatever photo you like. The paper and envelopes are including!!
Have fun!

Have you ever tried shutterfly.com? It's a place where you can upload your digital pictures and then share them with family and friends. I think it's similar to snapfish, thought I've never been on the snapfish website... Anyway, on shutterfly, they have very cute card ideas you could do. I do one for Father's Day every year with my 2 kids pictures, and the quality is great. If you haven't already. give that a try... If it's your first time doing it, you get 15 prints free... And the prints are real inexpensive. Good luck!!! Oooooo, before I leave, you know what would be cute??? Take a picture of your daughter smiling while holding up 1 finger; like she's saying "I'm ONE"... That'd be cute to put on a 1st birthday card... If she can do it :)

I made my son's invitations for his first birthday and this one, his second. The first, we had a tractor--John Deere theme. I got a picture of him on his toy tractor, got some green plad paper, some cards and made the cover with that. On the inside, I wrote out a cute saying and printed it on plain cardstock. I glued it all on and voila!!

The invitations i just made were a lot simpler than that. We had a Cars theme. I got large white cardstock (2 for $1 at Hobby Lobby), and smaller red paper. I printed out the saying and stuff on the red paper, printed 4 to a sheet. Glued it to the white paper, which i made a bit larger than the red. I got some Cars stickers and put one sticker per card. They came out really awesome. If you'd like, i could send you what i made.

Making my invitations were a lot cheaper, and more personal than what i found on the internet.
Good luck!
S.

* Get 1 solid card stock with one coordinating patterned paper.
* Cut the 8X11 sheet into 4 pieces (4 invitations).
* Cut the patterned paper in 4 pieces slightly smaller than the solid.
* Cut your photo slightly smaller that the patterned and glue the all together. Purchase clear vellum paper ( tpye party info on this on postcard layout)
* Cut it the same size as the solid.
* Place it over the photo (do not glue/tape)- punch two holes at the top and tie a coordinating ribbon at the top.

I would suggest VistaPrint. I have gotten a few things from them and been very satisfied with them. They are also a lot cheaper than anyone else I've seen. I wish I would have found them sooner. They have a great selection and you can upload photos too. I first bought some address lables from them and ever since then I get e-mails offering a selection of free items and discounted items. I recently bought my sons b-day invitations and I got 20 invitations, and thank you notes for $8.00 (this includes shipping). I also see advertisments for them on other websites, I've seen them on yahoo and myspace, which offer huge discounts (like 50%) if you go through that link. They have three or four different shipping options. I always get the cheapest one. Even though it says something like 20 days it only takes about a week for me to receive my items.

I received one of the cutest invitations to a year old's birthday party. The mom had dressed her daughter in a pink tutu and a white shirt with the number one in the same pink. She took her picture outdoors and the invitation said "I am turning one and hope you can help me celebrate my day." It gave all the party info. She sealed the invitations with a sticker that was the same picture of her daughter. It is a keepsake and one of the cutest invitations I've seen. Another thing that I've done for Christmas and other special occasions is having stamps made from a picture of my children.

Blessings to you and your sweet one year old!

L.

I just used www.vistaprint.com for my daughters invites. They have standard templates that you can upload your info & pictures to. I just received them in the mail & they are adorable! They were about 10.00 with the shipping for 20 invites + envelopes. Good luck!
