I need ideas for a birthday party for my little girl. She turns 3 at the end of April. I can't think of something that would be fun and original. She loves horses, well all animals really, gymnastics, Curious George, Clifford, Books. I enjoyed making her Veggie Tale birthday cake last year and would like to make the cake this year too. Can anyone give me creative ideas? Thanks. Oh, I also made the invitations last year and would like to do it again if possible.

Hi Kayla,

There is a restaurant called Clays, on Clay Road, close to highway 6. The food prices for parties are very reasonable and they have a pet zoo. Horses, chickens, goats plus a sand play area. I wanted to do my son's birthday party there (he is also turning 3 on April) but did not have an opening they day I wanted. We went to eat there one weekend for me to see if it was a good idea and my son had a blast, all by himself. There was a birthday party that my son almost invited himself. http://www.claysrestaurant.com

Good luck,
M.

Hi Kayla-

PBS has all sorts of birthday party ideas on their website for all of their characters http://www.pbs.org/parents/parties/

For each of my children's 4th birthdays we had pony rides in our backyard that was a lot of fun for all of the kids. I'm not very artistic when it comes to decorating cakes so I just bought a couple of plastic toy horses and put them on top of a sheet cake with the white fencing from another toy that we had.

Good Luck,
K.

I giving you this idea from my girlfriend who did this for her daughter's 4th birthday party. It was Dora themed (my daughter had a Dora themed bday party when she turned 3 too, but I was not this creative-we just got a jumpin' jack and called it good!) She did send out homemade invitations too! But what she did was do what Dora does best and have a mini scavenger hunt in the outside! She made backpacks for everyone and each kid had a map, a magnifying glass, and so on! She made little clues and they went to the backyard and found bug stickers, plastic bugs, and other things! Occassionaly Swiper vistied (her mother had a wolf mask on!) and the kids did the little Swiper saying! Then, when the hunt was over she had a Dora pinata and they all had a turn! Then, she had a homemade Dora cake, which you can buy the mold at Wal-Mart! It was a blast! A very long birthday party but my daughter loved it!

You could probably do the same thing with Blues Clues theme too! Luckily she was an x-school teacher so she captured the kids attention-should I have done it, it would've turned out differently!!!

Good luck & I know you'll think of something! Party America and those party stores have great things for kids birthdays too!

Good luck. There is a few different things: a princes party-the decorations can be bought at wal mart, but have the girls come in and give all of them little tiaras. for the cake you could do a princess(the mold is a barbie cake), as far as gymanstics most local gymnastics centers host birthday parties, in houston cypress gymanstics does parties and they host and take kids through different activities. i didnt pay attention to where you were located. well i hope this helps.

How about Old McDonald's Farm on 1960? We've had some B'day parties there and all the kids seemed to enjoy it.

We had my 3 year old daughter's party at the Austin Zoo. (she loves animals, too) It was around $50 for 15 people. (under 2 are free) I bought about $5 worth of animal food and put it in party favor bags for the petting zoo. The kids loved it and it was pretty easy. They have tons of picnic tables. Just take a cake and supplies then head over to the petting zoo. Fun...

Hi, Just a few suggestions. This past year my daughter wanted something with ponies. The theme was cowgirls and cowboys. If you live in Texas mostly everyone has something of the sort. So all the children wore thier cowgirl/boy attire. We had decorations of horses, haybales, trailmix for snack and cake was with nice plastic horses (collecting kind found at hobby lobby) little plastic trees and green sprinkles. Of course for a 3 year old my little pony might work better. There is a lot out there for my little pony. Also check out Oriental Trading they have some great pony themed items.
The other suggestion would be inviting the Fire Cracker Fairy to come for the party. Go to her site. No I am not getting paid for promoting her but I am going to tell you my daughter and her little friends which ranged from 3-5 just loved her! She comes in her tutu, funky sneakers, guitar and pixie dust and alot of fun. They sang, danced and played some instruments and then the birthday girls gets a sprinkle of pixie dust wishes. (Actually all get pixie dust) Lastly, her CD was the best gift that to this day my daughters still love to listen to. Google Fire Cracker Fairy in Killeen TX. I hope these ideas help. Good luck

If she likes animals and you're up for it, then consider having a small petting zoo come over. We did this when I daughter turned 4 and she loved it! She is a spring baby too so there were many baby animals that came to our house. We used a place called Fry's Fun Farm-- http://www.frysfunfarm.com/

You could make cute invitations that look like a barn or pair of boots or even a horse.

Good luck!

When my grandson turned 3, his Mom gave him a clown-themed party. Actually, a "Big Top" party. She had the cake made in the shape of a Big Top tent with all the circus animals (lions, elephants and others) peeking out of the tent. She also set up the back yard with carnival-type booths. One had bean bag toss, another had a ring toss, and other stuff like that. For snacks, she had a popcorn machine, a snow cone machine and a cotton candy machine. There was also a clown who did animal-shaped balloons for the kids. I don't remember much about the invitations, except that she did them on her computer.

Hope this helps a bit.

P.S. She also had a barnyard party once along the same lines as the one above, except that she had various ride-on toys (borrowed from friends & neighbors) in animal shapes.

I don't know if you are in SA or not, but there is a place called Tumbleweeds and next door is Seaweeds. You get the whole place to yourself and there are all sorts of play things. There is a zip cord, tire swing, dress up clothes, moon bounce, and a BIG barrel that the kids have to move by crawling up the wall. (hard to explain but fun) Anyways, you bring your own food. The workers there do all of the set up and clean up and can help the kids in the play area. I know my kids liked it. Hope this helps.

We had a farm theme for my sons 2nd birthday and we had a stuffed animal contest. We had each child bring a favorite stuffed animal and we gave ribbons to each (you can make simple paper/cardboard ones or buy pre-made ones at Hobby Lobby). Each child got a chance to show off thier animal and then we gave away winner ribbons to "cutest" "strongest" "most loved" "best dressed" etc. eveybody got a ribbon, and we filled in the titles on the spot to match the animals. The kids loved it and we took pictures of each kid and thier winning animal and sent them with the thank yous. We had lemonade to drink and cupcakes with the little plastic farm animals on top, bluegrass type music playing.I even made a "barn" out of a fridge box it was alot of fun and pretty cheap. Good luck

If she loves animals you should check out Fiesta Farm of San Antonio. You can actually have birthday parties there. I set up playgroups and we have had alot of them out there on Saturdays.......I can't find the website right now but just google Fiesta Farm in SA and it should bring it up. I think it is like $6.00 a person but not sure for parties......they have a few different animals.

Also not sure were you live but in Johnson City they have an Exotic Wildlife Ranch and that is alot of fun as well.

You can throw a party at a gymnasium, Little Gym or Gymboree. I have been to one of those and it was really fun. I don't know where you are located but I did my daughter a 3 year old tea party and that was fun. Tea Party's to go catered it. Since she loves animals you can throw it at the zoo or if they have pony parties that would be great.
