Bladder or Yeast Infection?

I have had both un the past, at one time or another. If it's a yeast infection I know now that i can treat it with OTC medication so no office visit and co-pay. We have a new ins plan this year only offered to employees of Blue Cross and it has a $1,000 deductible per family member. Don't want to see a dr unless absolutely necessary now. So can anyone who's recently had either remind me how each feels.

What can I do next?

I haven't had either in a while, but I do remember that Vagisil makes a yeast infection test that you can buy & use at home. You could try that first. I've used it before when I just had a yeast infection. Got the OTC meds and was fine.

I agree with the poster below regarding how each of these feels. A "test" you could try is to purchase the bladder numbing pills over the counter (I can't remember what they are called but they turn your urine bright orange) and see if you feel better :) They do have quite a few "home remedies" for bladder infections now that you can try. Finally, it might be cheaper just to go to QuickMed (or whatever they are calling it these days) at a CVS or Target. Plus, usually you get a discount if you have insurance.

Good luck!

Hi Cheri,

Before I use any type of antibiotic for an infection, I will use colloidal silver first. It has basically no side effects and is inexpensive as well. I have been able to cure my 91 year old father's pneumonia three times with it and not use the antibiotics the doctor prescribed. Antibiotics break down the immune system and we all need that when we are sick. I know it will help ant type of UTI.

If you go that route, go to the health store and get 10ppm colloidal silver. The average person's dose would be a teaspoon three times a day for ten days. Just like an antibiotic, take it the full 10 days. If you don't feel relief within a few days (I would give it 4) then it's either not a UTI or it's way past natural help.

If it's yeast, yes an OTC will help in the vaginal area but if there is yeast there, then your entire body is eaten up with it. I believe yeast (candida, google it) is the major causes of our new disorders these days like fibromyalgia, lupus, CFS, etc. It can create havoc in your body. Use the OTC but then you need to remove the sugar from your diet...not just processed sugars but white breads and white potatoes...and get on a good probiotic. Your bacteria balance has to be restored.I can recommend one if you're interested.

I'm not a doctor just a mom who's figured some things out. If you want more details feel free to get back to me. Since I have stopped letting the doctors control my life I feel better and my pocket book is heavier....I would save paying out that deductible for a major crisis....

God bless,

M.

A yeast infection itches, usually with increase vaginal discharge.

A bladder infection cause frequent need to urinate, often unproductively (just a few drops). As the infection progresses urination often becomes painful. If you do not get treatment at that point, the infection may migrate upwards into the kidneys and cause severe back pain. Often comes with a fever at that stage.

You can get a diagnosis and treatment for a bladder infection at a minute clinic for about $100.

Good Luck!

A yeast infection is itchy and possibly a discharge from the vagina. A bladder infection may cause it to burn when you urinate or feel like you have to go all the time. If your back hurts could be in your kidneys. Drink lots and lots of water to try to flush out if a bladder infection, but if you are having back pain don't wait to see a doctor.

If you get yeast infections in particular regularly then you would do yourself a service to take a probiotic on a regular basis. Here is a link for you:
