So, I'm going crazy trying to pick the perfect name for my son! My first son's name is Caleb and it came to my husband and I so easily!! This time, we are a little stuck...we like Isaac (although our last name ends in a "ck", so it doesn't sound that great), and Michael (although I'd rather him not be called Mike, again because of the last name ending in "ck"), and Rowan (although people tell me its a girls name). So, this is a problem. I'm pretty sure we want to use Steven for the middle name as that is my father's name. Other than that, we are still open to suggestions. Biblical names are great, but not a must (as you see in Rowan). My son has red hair and fair skin. I'm not sure if this one will be the same, but looking at my family, there is a good chance.
Thanks so much for the help!!
EDIT - Also, I like Reagan (I know, I know, also a girl's name). Ray is a family name and I like that I could call him Ray at home.
***I'm on bedrest...so I have a little too much time to think about this!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of the advice!! We did decide to name our little boy Reagan Steven. As I said, I'm on bedrest, so I'm thinking about him and his name all the time. My husband and I both really liked Reagan and then, the other day I just started calling him Reagan when I was talking about him. So...we decided to stick with it! I love all the "tests" you suggested, and I think Reagan passes them all! Thanks again!!

I love the name Rowan. I don't know any girls named Rowan, but I do know 2 boys named that. One is an adult and the other is now 10 years old. I also like Reagan and the nickname Ray. Good luck in whatever you choose!

I have only know girls named Rowan and I know more girls named Reagan than boys, but my sister knows more boys named Rowan and Reagan than girls so it probably all evens out in the end. Michael I'm really not fond of but that may be for more personal reasons(too many exes with that name). It's not a bad name, just not a favorite. Caleb is great though... me and my sister both want to name boys that name...we'll see who gets it first! Whatever name you pick should flow and should be a name you don't tire of after saying it over and over for weeks on end. My mom never really picked a name till after she went home from the hospital but all of our names worked out for each of us. Sometimes you just look down at your newborn and a name just comes to you. Good luck!

P.S. This is why I keep a running list of all names I like:)

Heeehee. I love baby names. Ok, I have a good friend that is 31 now and his name is Reagan. I think it is a good name for him and I do not think that he ever had trouble with it. So, I like that one. Totally love the name Caleb. Not so much in love with Rowan. (Sounds like you are rowing a boat.) I read that someone likes the names Connor,Steven, Nathan, and Logan. I love all of them. But I LOVE the name Seth. That is what I wanted my oldest son's name to be, but my husband it not really like it. But see, Caled Seth sounds nice. With every named I picked I would remind myself that I would one day be yelling it at a game of some kind and I did not want to sound like my moma when she would yell mine. Good luck. You will know the name as soon as you have that baby in your arms and it will fit. Don't worry.

I have a nephew named Micheal, and he is 12, and is still called by his full name and not Mike. A person never knows down the line when it may get shortened, but sometimes it never does. We had trouble with picking a name for one of my sons, some names rymed with our last name.but I wanted to have one of his names after my dad, and we ended up naming him after both of our dads. One of my other children we had the name picked out for about two weeks, didn't like it and changed it again, and this happened several times, and the last time it just sounded right , so I'm sure something will sound right and it will be the one you stick with.

K.,
Have you thought about Andrew Steven?
2 things to consider--make sure both names flow with your last name and that it would sound good with PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in front of it. Or doctor etc. I always thought that President Jimmy Carter didn't sound too dignified.

Lastly--my mother always recommended yelling the name out the back door a few times to test it!

God bless.

Well I was going to say Caleb Michael, since that's my sons name, but you've already got a Caleb. Great name, isn't it? I love the name Nathan (which we named one of our triplets who now live in Heaven). I also love the name Cade, but it sounds so close to Caleb. Logan, Dalton, Ethan, Connor, Dylan...Isn't it funny how hard of a decision picking out a name is? I thought we were never going to decide!!!

Congrats on your new baby, let us know what you decide on.

I know it's hard picking out a name, however, I think after you start calling your child that, it matches... I like the names you've picked out. I'm big on meaning, I like how you are using your father's name for his middle name, my oldest son is named after my dad and my baby son is named after my husband's dad. My older son's middle name is Steven after my father, my dad's name is Steven Kenneth; named after his dad (Grandpa's first name is Kenneth); well my son is Kendall Steven, I wanted his name to have meaning, my sister is Kendra, my grandfather Kenneth, and I'm from Illinois so Kendall Gill was a great basketball player, so his name has a lot of meaning to it. So he's named after his PaPa, Aunt, Great Grandfather and great basketball player...
I'm sure you'll come up with a great name... I like the ones you've picked already!
Congrats on your pregnancy!

What about Jacob it goes great with Steven or Ray. Also, I don't think that Rowan is a girl's name at all but bottom line, if you like it then use it. We have a little girl named Aubrey and EVERYONE told/tells us that it's a boys name but bottom line...we like it! Go with your gut and have fun.

I love the name Steven!!! Have you considered Joshua Steven or Daniel Steven. I'm kind-of a traditionalist & I love religious names. Just remember anything you choose, he'll be precious!
Good Luck!

close your eyes and relax. Hear the names in your head. Visualize your boy. Pick the one that sounds the best and fits the face.
