Hi Moms,

I am pregnant with my second child and since I have become pregnant, I my forehead has broken out. They are very, very small pimples that are under the skin but they are driving me crazy!! Are there any good skin care regiments that have worked for others? I don't know if I should try a scrub or exfoliating or would that make it worse? Has anyone else experienced this? HELP!! Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
I swear by Ole Henrickson Tonic, the balancing cucumber one (olehenrickson.com). I used to get small bumps all over my forehead, I don't know if they were really pimples and I don't think were too visible to others but they drove me crazy, my whole forehead was bumpy. Back before I had a baby and could spoil myself every once in a while someone giving me a facial had me try it. After Jake came and I was trying to watch my money more (it's a little expensive maybe $30 bottle but it does last at least 6 months so not too bad), I stopped using it and the bumps came back so now this is my one luxery beauty product that I will always use. You don't need a lot, just a small splash that you pat over entire face in between cleanser and moisturizer. Maybe that will help...

I am a Mary Kay Consultant so, of course, I tried Mary Kay first!! MK has a microderm abrasion set and I had to use it every other day during my pregnancy. It worked! If you want mor info PM me!

I also broke out during my pregnancies...more with my first. It is the hormones. It will go away...at worst after you give birth. I know that Zinc helps balance the hormones, but I suggest you find out from your Dr or Midwife how much is safe to take during pregnancy. Be Happy. Be Well. Good Luck.

hi i am replying to your post since it is still recent. as an aesthetician and mom, my "professional" opinion is to try glycolic acid. you can get them where ever you get a regular facial. or try OTC products. the only caveat to the OTC products is some of them are not stong enough to do any exfoliation. for an inexpensive live, try nuetrogena, they have a cleanser free of fragrance, which is always good, and they have a toner and moisturizer with glycolic also know as AHA. two other important things, i would not use a cleanser with the glycolic because for the most part you just end up washing it down the drain, i recommend the toner and moisturizer. also stay AWAY from salicylic acid or BHA while preggo, not good for the baby.
if you use another line say at a make-up counter, they should be able to direct you to the right products...just remember you need the right Ph of the glycolic to be effective. if you have a line you prefer you can also email me back, and i can help find a good product.
good luck, and hopefully the acne clears after the baby get here...

I had small little pimple like looking things badly on my temples and on my back during my pregnancy. I used a microderm abrasion product to help lessen the appearance of them...I cant tell you which of the 4 I used did the best but I felt they all worked equally. I tried Mary Kay, L’Oreal, Fragrant Lemon Peel and Aveeno. Still to this day I am using the Aveeno due to the fact it is the cheapest, and I can just get it off the shelf at the grocery store when I’m out. Now a few days ago my MIL gave me a sample of the Clinique one and I felt it is maybe a bit more gritty and seemed to work better, but of course I have no clue how much it is and I am not pregnant…lol

I started to get regular facials and it seems to work for me. My skin has done some crazy things since being pregnant and my son is now six months and I finally feel like it's getting back to normal. I also use Dermalogica products and love the results.

The same thing happened to me with my first pregnancy and I hated looking at my pregnancy and hospital pictures because my face was so broken out. So when I got pregnant again, I went to bath and body works and they gave me a clay based facial cleanser, witch hazel based toner then follow that up with good moisturizer. This routine did wonders for me and I still use it to this day!

I'm afraid all I can offer is sympathy. My skin was awful when I got pregnant. I kept waiting for it to get better so I could have that glowing pregnant complexion. It never happened. It did clear up pretty fast after I gave birth, but I was so embarrassed during the pregnancy. I hate looking back at pictures! I tried proactive but it was too harsh on my skin. It took away all the little pimples, but left big deep ones instead!
