Ok I posted my question like 10 days ago and didn't get 1 response, are there no mothers on here that have had breast augmentation? I really could use some feed back.

Below is the original question I posted.

I am planning on getting breast augmentation with implants in the very near future, my consultation is this afternoon with Dr. Boyd in Paris, TN. I would like to get all the feed back good and bad from any moms who have had the procedure done. I am very educated on the subject as I have been wanting this for over 5 years now. But personal feed back is critical. My family is done, I had a tubal after the birth of my 2nd son in 2006 so breastfeeding is not an issue for me. Let me say my desire to do this comes from 2 main reasons first the shape and size of my breasts are not the same, never have been it's not a major difference but it is noticeable, and after the births of my boys it has gotten a little worse and second I just want them! I just want to feel normal when I wear a bathing suit or a tank top, I am so tired of worrying about them and worrying what if someone notices. So please any feed back would be great and if any one has been to Dr. Boyd that would be wonderful. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

I have not had any experience with this but it is a thought of mine. I don't need any help with the size but after breastfeeding two babies i could use some help :). I understand completely where you are coming from with just wanting to be comfortable in clothes in general. I say you should go for it if it is really what you want and you can afford it. But i would like to let you know several family members of mine have had this done and the one most recently had one of hers deflate ( i guess that is what you would call it). She only had her implants 6 months and thankfully she had bought the warranty/insurance plan so she did not have to pay but she did have to go through the surgery again. So i would definitely recommend looking into that.

I had one done 3 years ago (before kids). I am now preggy with my second and since then, my breasts have begun to sag (just a tiny bit). But I guess you wont have to worry about that part!! Anyway, I got high profile saline implant (Mentor). My breasts were also a bit lop sided and uneven. I think I got around 320cc in each (a bit more was put in my left breast). My recovery was good. The only thing that hurt was trying to sit up from a reclined position. I got my incision in the areola and they were placed under my muscle (the most painful they say)> But this way, they look and feel so natural. People dont believe me when i say I had implants. I want to get them re-done after this baby is born. I dont regret getting them at all. I was about a 34b and I went to a 34d. It really increased my self esteem and clothes fit me so much better. They only thing i recommend is to sleep in a chair or lay propped up in bed to rest. do NOT lift anything for 2 weeks. You could get them dislodged. Oh and have your doctor stitch the muscle by your armpit to your chest wall closed (if that makes sense). That way, the implants wont slide into your arm pit. I have this problem as well as several of my friends. It isnt serious, just feels weird and looks funny when you lie flat. I will have my doc do that next time. good luck. You will feel so great about yourself!

Hi N.,
If your self esteem is affected, then by all means get it done. This is going to sound crazy to some parents, but I had my daughters done at age 15. Normally I would have said that is nuts, forget it. If she had just been wanting bigger breasts at that age, the answer would have been an 'absolute NO'. But there was another issue with her. One of her breasts didn't develop at all. One was a large size C, almost D. I had never heard of that before but since then have heard of quite a few girls like that. I saw this child go thru torment over this, stuffing one side of her bra, not wanting to wear a swimsuit without a t-shirt over it, afraid to go swimming, afraid her stuffing would come out, and so on. She got so she wouldn't go out and do anything with friends, wore baggy shirts all the time, wanted to stay in her room for the most part. Finally her pediatrician suggested augmentation. I was completely against it at that age, but by the time we got home, I had studied it thru and saw where it could help her self esteem and she wouldn't be embarrassed anymore. I too thought of it like this, if my child had a heart defect, I would want it fixed if it could be, or any kind of defect, and this was a defect. So we had it done, after much investigating. I even had the dr background check and stuff done. She didn't suffer much pain at all, only for a couple of days getting up and down out of bed. Came thru it all like a breeze, but I also think it was a lot of attitude that helped, she wanted that so bad. They placed the implant under her muscle, assured me she could breast feed if she ever chose to, and they also worked on the other one. He cut it down some, placed a small one in the bottom of it under the muscle also to lift it up to match the other one, both were a size C when all was done and over with. At the time they looked wonderful, and she was a complete different person. She came out of her shell, and is so outgoing it is unbelievable now. I'm so glad we did it. Now though it has been almost 6 yrs and she is complaining about her 'real' one not looking right and it comes out of her bra when she lays down. The dr warned us as the years went on she might have to have it done again, because no matter what he did then, gravity would still pull the real one down where as the 'fake' one would always stay firm and pert. That is happening now, plus she says the 'nipple' is not in the right place now (he completely removed it and put it back on when he cut that one down to size). So she is planning on saving her own money to have it done again as soon as she can. It cost us right at 6500.00 for the whole surgery, hospital expenses and all. Which all that had to be paid up front before the surgery was done. I hate to see her go to that expense again, and the way I understand it, most times it always has to be re-done at some point in time. He gave us approx. 10 yrs but said it could be sooner, which it has turned out that way. But I would still do it again for her, to have seen the difference it made in her overnight. We were talked about like dogs when the word got out, even the nurses in the recovery room treated us with disdain until we told them she had not developed one breast, so it is not really acceptable to most of society even to this day of technology we have, I guess especially for a teenager, but like I said, I would do it again in a heart beat if I had to for her. If it makes you feel better about yourself, go for it, you should do fine! Just be prepared that it might have to be repeated in years to come, which I'm sure if you have a good dr. he will explain that to you when you have your consultation. Go for it and good luck!

i have had no experience with a breast augmentation, or any type of cosmetic surgery... but i say go for it! i don't have a need to increase my size, but i plan on getting a lift, and maybe a reduction, when i'm done having babies. i have heard it's very painful, but if you're ok with that, then do what you want to do! good luck!

I can totally relate to your desire to have augmentation. If I had the funds myself, I would have it done as well for same basic reasons. My cousin had hers done after her 4th son finished nursing; it has been 5 years and she has absolutely no regrets; she said the hardest part afterward was getting comfortable the first week of recovery. She disocvered if she sat in her recliner kind of half reclined with pillows supporting her back on each side she had almost no pain. A friend of my daughter's had hers done last summer and is absolutley elated. I will be 45 this spring; my youngest child is 4 1/2; he just quit nursing last August. If I could do it, just to place things back on the top floor I would. I say if it is wwhat you truly want and you have weighed all the pros and cons and sure that you will have no regrets then you should do it. Sorry, I can't help you with any doctor feedback. Good Luck!

Hi N.. I too am the mother of two that is planning to get this procedure in the next 2 months. I haven't known anyone that has gone to Dr. Boyd but I have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Snodgrass in Rome, GA on March 21st at 2:45. This is going to be a group imformational meeting with individual consultations following. They said that it should all take about an hour--although I find that hard to believe. I have two friends that have gone to this doctor and they know two others that have gone to him. Everyone has been happy and had no problems. His consultation is free and the surgery starts at $3,300. I have also nursed two children and had a tubal ligation so I understand where you are coming from.---Should you like to check him out his number is ###-###-#### and his website is kevinsnodgrass.com.

P.S. Are you planning to get saline or silcone? Can you give me an idea what Dr. Boyd is charging?
