Chemicals on Glider

We bought a glider for my daughters room about 4 months ago. When we took it out of the box the chemicals on it about killed me. I kept it out of her room for the first month. It's in there now and all I smell when I go in there are those chemicals. I hate that. It feels so unsafe. I want it to smell like a baby and there is no way it will as long as that is in there. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I guess it's the scotch guard on it or something. Should I have it cleaned? Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Is it light enough that you could move it out in the sun during the day for a few days in a row? I wouldn't leave it out overnight because of dew, but three or four days in the sunshine might break down the chemicals enough for it to stop off gassing.
If it doesn't, I would take it back. I wouldn't leave it in the baby's room either.

Keep the windows open in the room as much as possible to get the odors out. If you can take the cushions off (the ones on my glider snap off), put the cushions outside in the sun during the day for a couple days. The fresh air and sunshine work wonders on any odors! I have a friend who takes all new plastic toys outside for a day in the sun as well, although I haven't had to do that with toys. I do hang stinky baby laundry outside on a drying rack occasionally.

I would return it to the store and tell them why. I guess you have to make a choice.

You might consider returning it. Otherwise, you migh put it in direct sunlight and then have someone come out and professionally steam clean it. That will most likely do the trip.
