My request is for a good friend who is moving to the Dallas area & they will be house hunting soon, but she wants to first decide on a school for her little girls. She would like a Private Classical Christian school. One that is not all about money or wealthy kids coming together, but one that is a small Christian school where the school has a real ministry of seeing the children grow academically but also spirtiually. She would even consider something that was a Monday,Wednesday,Friday at the school and the other days home school or all days at the school.

Thank you Mama's - I know you will give wonderful advise! I told her I knew exactly who to ask!!!

What can I do next?

My son attends Canyon Creek christian Academy in Richardson. We are very, very happy with the instruction that he is getting there. It is at Custer and Renner, so not too bad a drive from Allen/Plano. You can check it out at www.cccatx.org

You may want to look at Coram Deo Academy: http://coramdeoacademy.org/content/blogs/carrollton.php. Because the school wants parents to be active participants in their children's education, kids attend 2 days a week, with a parent homeschooling the other days (they provide you the curriculum to teach). Fridays are elective-days for lessons in art, music, etc. And so, the rates are VERY affordable. Classical Christian education is the focus; students even begin learning Latin in 3rd grade! It's located in Carrollton, but is really right on the border of Plano (it's a couple of blocks or less from Prestonwood Baptist Church off of Park Blvd.). They currently lease space in a church and have grades Pre-K to 8th grade. I've also been searching for a private Christian school, and so far, Coram Deo's bible-based curriculum seems to be one of the most rigorous.

In McKinney, try "Cornerstone Christian Academy." Heard great things about it.

Legacy Christian Academy. My daughter currently attends there and my nephews go there also. I can't tell you how pleased I am with LCA. It's a very Christian-focused school--not in name only. They completely follow a classical education and have very rigorous standards. The school's director regularly announces when specific children get saved. It's a little pricey but well worth it. I was concerned the people might be a little "uppity" but that has not been my experience at all. All the parents have been very nice and friendly and unpretentious. LCA is in Frisco.

I strongly reccommend the North Texas Christrian Academy. It is a small school, but very academically and spritually oriented. I have been very impressed with this school and plan on sending my kids to it even though I NEVER considered a private school (my oldest is 4 and attends their kinder-readiness class). It is a very warm, but structured school. All the teachers and even some of the older kids know my son's name. In my son's class, they not only teach academics, but also have prayer, do the pledge of allegence every day, and study Bible verses and how to apply them to everyday life. I really don't know how they fit it all in!!

It is reasonably priced, which is also a plus. It is located at the NW corner of HWY 75 & Wilmeth.
