Crozer - What to Bring to the Hospital?!

I delivered both my girls at Paoli hospital, but I think they are all the same in regards to the baby. Yes, they have diapers for the babies. You really dont need to bring too much clothing as they give you a long sleeve tee shirt for the baby to wear. They will swaddle the baby to keep him/her really warm and cozy and the rooms are usually kept very warm! You wont use wipes on the baby as their skin is way too sensitive at first. The hospital should give you soft towels and a basin to fill with warm water to use for the changes (the meconium is really dark and sticky so water is actually the best thing for it). You may want to bring a onesie to take the baby home in. For my first, I came equipped with 6 different baby outfits..none of which I used. For my second, I brought two onesies, only one of which I used. You'll be fine...if you forgot anything, they have it there for you. Good luck to you!

all i took for my baby was a going home outfit, socks, and a little hat... the hospital gave us plenty of diapers, wipes, baby shampoo.. and the baby stayed in the hospital's hat and onsie and diaper til we left! :)

Usually for the baby, you just bring an outfit to bring them home in, outerwear if necessary, a carseat, and a few blankets to cover them on the way home. I know with my first 2 children, I didn't need to bring diapers, wipes, or formula. The hospital sent us home with some diapers and some other stuff including a gift of a diaper bag with supplies from one of the formula companies.

The best thing to do, though, is to call the maternity ward at the hospital in which you are delivering. Ask them what you should bring with you for yourself and the baby when you come in for your c-section. I'm sure they get this question all of the time and will have a list of items you should bring as well as some that are suggested but not necessary. Don't be afraid to call and ask them. It is a part of their job.

You are not dumb just nervous!!!! You will be fine!!!! Just bring a diaper, however they supply them. Bring a nice outfit for the baby to come home in and a receiving blanket to wrap the baby in and a blanket to cover him. A car seat in the car!!! Buy yourself a nice soft pretty nightgown that you feel special in. It will definetely make you feel better!!!! Best of luck to you!!!!

The hospital supplies everything for the baby as far as diapers & wipes. I brought an outfit for my son's pictures & also for his coming home outfit. I also brought blue onesies & a it's a boy hat that he wore on the 2nd day. some hospitals don't allow that & sometimes the baby can't wear anything due to any complications ( umbilical cord care is more difficult, if the baby is jaundice, etc...)

all that is not necessary, just be sure to have a proper carseat & with this crazy weather you might want a blanket to cover the baby!!
most important don't forget to pack your camera!!!

You do not need to bring diapers or wipes for the baby. That will be supplied by the hospital. Same thing with clothes, although you will want to bring an outfit for the little one to head home in. I delivered at HUP and they supply little HUP shirts and diapers for the baby, plus blankets to swaddle the infant in.

You can call the hospital you are scheduled for and just double check--I am sure they are used to it! GOOD LUCK!! And just think, pretty soon you will get to hold your precious baby.

I delivered at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh in December. They provided all of the stuff for my baby that I needed. Everyone is right though, bring a special outfit for pictures or going home. Most importantly, bring something REALLY comfortable for you to hang out and sleep in. Also, if you are particular about your sleeping pillow, BRING IT!! Hospital pillows are terrible, in my opinion anyway. I brought my body pillow that I had used during the pregnancy too, and it really helped. I had a c-section, so I was stuck sleeping on my back in the hospital and at home for a few weeks. Without that body pillow, I don't know what I would've done. Good luck and congratulations!! Hi A G in my experiance I brought a few oneies, my own pacifiers, a blanket and the outfit to go home with. The hospital will give you the rest. The only reason I took the pacifiers from home where my girlfriend had a bad experiance with the hospital ones when her son lost the few she had she could never find them in the stores............So I learned from her.............lol. Hi, I have had five children and I wondered this myself the first few times. They were all born in another state but it seemed like all I needed to bring was a few going home outfits, receiving blanket and some diapers. If you choose to have your baby use a pacifier then you might want to bring an extra one. I say two going home outfits because one of my kids got their first one wet when they were having their going home pictures taken. Hope this helps a bit. You might want to check with the hospital to see what they provide. Best of luck to you.

FOR THE BABY THE ONLY CLOTHING YOU REALLY NEED IS AN OUTFIT TO COME HOME IN AND IF YOU WANT AN OUTFIT FOR THE BABY TO TAKE PICS IN. MOST HOSPITALS DO PREFER LEAVING THE BABY IN A DIAPER AND TSHIRT WHICH THEY WILL PROVIDE. YOU DON'T NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN DIPAERS OR WIPES (SAVE THEM!!) WHEN YOU ARE DISCHARGED THEY WILL GIVE YOU WHATEVER STUFF IS LEFT IN HIS BASSINETT TO TAKE HOME W/ YOU (DIAPERS, WIPES, FORMULA). ALSO IF YOUR PLANNING TO BREASTFEED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO BRING YOUR NURSING BRA, NURSING PADS, & BREASTCREAM B/C MOST HOSPITALS DO NOT PROVIDE THESE ITEMS. SOMETIMES THEY HAVE SAMPLES OF THE BREASTCREAM AND NURSING PADS. IF YOUR GOING TO FORMULA FEED YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLES SO THAT YOUR BABY WILL BE USED TO THEM FROM THE START. THE HOSPITAL WILL PROVIDE FROMULA AND DISPOSABLE BOTTLES WHILE YOUR'E THERE. hOPE THIS HELPS!

I packed so much stuff when I had my kids that I didn't need half of it. lol

Bring extra underwear (the kind that if they ruined you could care less), the best pads I have found that work well was the Stayfree four wall pads-bring them as well (make sure they are long overnight ones (the hospitals remind me of a roll for some reason), pajamas for yourself (nightgowns would work best), nail file for baby and a binky if you are going to use one, going home outfit for baby and yourself and a warm blanket to cover the baby up in when you come home.
Oh and if you are going to be nursing-get a tube of Lanisoh (purple tube)it's safe for the baby but start using it once you are able.
Don't worry about diapers

Other than toothbrush and make-up (if you plan to take pictures and are into that kind of thing) for you, most hospitals supply all you need for the baby (top, diapers, wipes, etc). Some hospitals do not supply slippers and you might want to get a weather appropriate outfit for the baby when you get discharged.

My suggestion is to bring a few outfits for the baby just incase, 4-5 diapers, formula if you are not breastfeeding, and 2 bottles for the ride home. Don't forget a blanket to put over the baby when he or she is in the car seat. These are the things we packed for my daughter when I had her so I hope this is helpful. Good luck and congratz!

We only brought an outfit for our son to come home in. Our hospital kept him in a longsleeve shirt and swaddled and he was fine. As for diapers they should give you some(i would take some and stuff them in a bag so they would give us more). our hospital only recommended using warm clothes as a wipe because of added scents and things to wipes. We switched to wipes when he was about 2 weeks old. I hope this helped. Good luck!

The hospital i delivered in supplied diapers and wipes all we needed for the baby was the going home outfit and recieving blankets and make sure you have the car seat in the car. WHen i delivered my son my step-mom had to come from out of town to pick us up from the hospital becuase our car went into the shop they day before i went into labor and i had the carseat by the door but my MIL and stepmom brought my daughter to the hospital but forgot the carseat for the baby. LOL SO they had to go back to the house to get it. It can easily be forgotten. LOL

Just bring a pair of soft socks for the baby, and a going home outfit. They will not allow you to change baby into anything. They supply you with diapers and food and also stock you up when you go home. THat was my experience at Shore Memorial Hospital. I only was allowed to put socks on her little feet to keep them warm. They will give you undershirts to put on them, the nurses only like them in undershirts so it is quick and easy to change them in the nursery.
Pack for yourself:) I had a c-section and needed more nightgowns than I packed, so my family had to purchase me more. Also remember to bring a baby book to document important info.

for security reasons, my hospital didn't allow any clothes but their own during the babies stay. they want all "their" babies to look alike. i was able to bring my own blanket though. all you really need to bring for the baby is clothes, coat and blanket to go home in. they provide all the formula and diapers which you will be allowed to take home with you once you leave. i brought a book to read to her also ;-)

I delivered at Crozer in December. It was a wonderful experience. They stock you up with diapers, wipes, long sleeve t-shirts for the baby, pacifiers, formula (if you need it), receiving blankets, sheets, and towels. I would suggest bringing shampoo and soap, an outfit for the babies picture, an outfit to bring the baby home in, a towel for your husband, a robe, and slippers. GOOD LUCK!

I've had 5 babies and 2 c-sections -- don't bring alot. Get a few favorites like a special body wash or shampoo but in TRAVEL sizes. Underware, pads, a couple changes of clothes, hair brush, fav pillow, an outfit for the baby (ONE). Put it all in one big bag because you will fill up the bag with the left over diapers, etc from the hospital and they give you a complimentary diaper bag usually, so there are at least 2 bags you will take home plus all the flowers and balloons -- take the bare minimal stuff you will need, if you need something, people around you will get it! Have your husband take home some stuff the day before you leave, then it doesn't look like you are moving out!

not a dumb question! anyway, at the hospital -and i've had 3 kids at crozer (and one more on the way)- they will have a bassinet that the baby will sleep in with drawers in the bottom. there will be diapers, a pacifier, blankets, long sleeve button front shirts, lotion, a comb, and i think baby bath, and formula. you can take the formula, diapers, binky, bathwash, and comb. but they like you to leave the blamkets and extra shirts. they wash those and reuse them. i always brought an extra outfit for a photo (which they will take for you at the hospital) and for going home. you might want to bring a thick blanket, socks, onsies...and you have to have a carseat or they won't let you leave with the baby. the seat can be brought to your room on the day you leave so you can put the baby in it or leave it strapped in the car so the nurse sees you put the baby in it when you get wheeled out after your stay. as for you, i would bring some jammies, underthings, and maternity clothes you feel comfy in because with the c-section you might still look and feel about 6 months pregnant! i know i did and i didn't even have a c-section! also, wear some comfy slippers or sneakers so you can wear them in the hospital room and home.
