i'm planning a baby shower for my sister. they aren't finding out what their are having, and the baby's room is going to be a frog theme. we've found frog invitations that are super cute, and i'm now on the lookout for ideas for decorations and/or favors. we don't want it to be hokey looking, but something that would tie in to the theme would be nice. i'm open to all thoughts and ideas. thanks!!

What can I do next?

Have you looked at Sarris Candy? Maybe they could to a chocolate (or white chocolate tinted mint green) frog lollipop on a stick? You can always add a ribbon to the favor for extra color.
It would be simple and who doesn't like chocolate?

You can buy chocolate molds or cookie cutters in frog shapes and make the favors. There are places from which to buy online (I have), and there is a chocloate mild store in Hatboro if you're near that area. Decorations? How about a few frog stuffed animals, with balloons attached? If you want small frogs and the like, look at USToys.com (or go to their store in Lansdale/Montgomeryville/North Wales...unsure what town that is) or OrientalTrading.com. There also are kid-oriented visors that look like frogs... If you want to be goofy, you can hand those out. Have fun!

Hi M.!

Frog shaped cookie cutters...give everyone a couple of pre-made cookies and include the cookie cutter in their package of goodies with a cookie recipe, make up a cute recipe name that ties in to the parents/baby.

Check out thechocolatevault.com - they have some great frog shaped chocolates and lollis...purchase a lolli tree, create your own pond with papers and felt, silk flowers - whatever & place the tree "in the pond" - display in the center of the food table or do one for each table.

Mint / candy tins with customized frog label.

Hope these few ideas help...

If you are having a lot of people this might be too time consuming. You could cover the tables with blue table cloths and make lily pads for place mats. Or you could make a lily pad or two for each table to put under a centerpiece, cookie or appetizer plates, etc.

If you have a color scheme as well you could buy M&M's in those colors and simply wrap the in tulle for favors.

Have fun!

Hey girl. I have a little business here online and I love to decorate all my shower parties with mini diaper cakes. It's so cute after all the tables are out and there is a little cake on each one ;) I can make 5 for you for $50 but if you want to do it yourself I'm sure you can ;) -Take 6 diapers, 1 onesie, 1 receiving blanket, 1 washcloth and some ribbon and form it inot a cake. Top it with a toy or just leave it topless. (myspace.com/sassybizzness) for pics. Best of luck. I'm sure it will be beautiful!

Maybe do something with lily pads. You could have them on the cake or on the table with flowers on them. Have fun!

My niece is also into frogs. For her shower I bought a frog shaped hamper from companykids.com and used that as her wishing well.

Hi M.,

I have one idea that would be really neat. I saw it on a craft show and was going to use it for my wedding but didn't get the chance. It is making a gel candle and you can suspend things inside the gel like little bottles, frogs, babies.....whatever you want and it would be a good table decoration. I have seen a lot of this stuff at craft stores like AC Moore and Michaels. I hope that this is helpful.

you can make lily pad mates and put them in the center of the table. On top of that you can put a flower, some nice flower that is potted and in season. To spruce of the flower pot you can find skewers that have frogs on them and place them in the pot. I found them at a flower shop. They are made out of lightweight wood and foam and painted. You then could draw a frog foot print on the bottom of someones cup or place mat do denote that they won the flower in the center.

I don't know how fancy you want to get. If you are putting silverware on the tables you can get brown paper napkins, roll the silverware in the napkins and attach a frog to it to hold it together. Then it will look like the frog is sitting on a log.

If you don't want to have a ton of green & yellow I suggest you incorporate lavender with the green. I didn't know what I was having either and the table cloths were purple and mellow green color.

Good luck and have fun!

I love the frog and lily pad idea. One other way to incorporate it is to use rubber stamps. You can rubber stamp on the napkins, on cards with a cute saying (something like "Thanks for hopping by to celebrate with us") for your favors, even the tablecloths if you are using disposable. The rubber stamp and solid color paper products are much cheaper and more personal than trying to find something in a matching set -- that is, if you have the time to do a little stamping :)

Go to oriental trading online & look up baby shower. Lots of cute ideas. I had a small shower for a friend of mine, it was all the girls for the first two hours and then the guys all came & we had a celebration together. I bought pop and beer. I had small baby bottles with ribbons and baby safety pins on them filled with different shots! I had everything from jack daniels to watermelon schnapps. It was a hoot watching people sucking on baby bottles to "sip" their shots! Of course you could use Green koolaide or fill with gummie frogs!
