I know someone posted before the remedy for diaper rash if cream doesn't work...but I don't know where to look.
I think it was a warm bath or something like that, but do I add anything to the water?
I am trying to remember what they told me to do after birth, as well.
HELP...my daughter barely slept last night or nap today.
Thanks for the quick advice. I am pretty sure what caused the rash was the new wipes I bought. I don't know what I was thinking buying scented wipes. I will try your suggestions and pray for a good night.
ANOTHER UPDATE: After another rough night, we had enough. I called our ped's office and talked to a nurse who told me to use neosporin and let her air out. Her diaper rash disappeared after a baking soda bath, rinse and some vaseline, but she was still crying when she peed. So, we took her to the doctor, which was a good thing, because she had a bladder infection, which she is on medicine for. She only woke once last night briefly, but was up at 6:30 this morning. She is now napping well and I believe we are on the road to recovery. Thank God. Another learning experience, I suppose.
Crazy as it sounds....Mylanta. My friend's ped recommended it to her and it worked amazingly! Spread it on with a cotton ball. Dry with a hairdryer on low/cool. Then put diaper cream over it.
Maybe make sure she doesn't have a yeast infection. Sometimes little ones can get them and you have to talk to your doctor about that.

*Can take a warm bath with Baking soda
*If cream isn't working call your ped. They may prescribe a stronger cream.
Yes, no wipes, just warm water with a washcloth. Air her as much as possible and use some olive oil - no vaseline!! You should make sure that you don't have mineral oil in any of your baby products - no petroleum jelly either. I have an awesome botanical baby line that you might be interested in using that is so safe for your infant's tender skin. Everything that goes on her skin goes into her blood as well. Good luck and yes, this too shall pass. Make sure she isn't having a reaction to the diapers. Many have chemicals in them too!

Glad to hear she's doing better. In the future the two things that seemed to work best for my kids was to air out as much as possible (that usually did the trick) and to temporarily switch to Pampers diapers. (We use generic.) Pampers seems to do the best job at wicking away moisture. On a normal day, generics work fine for us but every now and then they'd get diaper rash and we'd switch for a bit, which seemed to help.
Change her hourly (or more if needed) and use a rash cream at every change. Also in the way of wipes - water is good, or I also will use Lansinoh (sp?) wipes when needed.

I hoped those suggestions worked. Once my daughter had a rash so bad it was bleeding, even when we put cream on it. The doctor said to put the antifungal cream lotrimin on it and cover with triple paste. After a couple of times, it went away. The start of the rash for her was target brand diapers.

Though I was lucky with my daughter in that she hardly ever had diaper rash concerns...when she did, I used Aquaphor and that worked beautifully. I highly recommend that. It certainly doesn't hurt to take her to the doctor too if you think there might be something else wrong like a yeast infection.
