Do Hyland's Teething Tablets Work?

Do Hyland's teething tablets work? Has anyone had any negative experiences with them? The website says it is OK to use them in conjunction with Tylenol. Is that what works best? My daughter is almost 6 months old and has been night waking a lot recently after having slept through thr night for a couple of months. I am wondering if it is teething issues causing this. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I would definitely think it is the teething waking her. It's about that time. I loved Hyland teething tablets. I did a dose of that with a dose of advil before bedtime and it worked like a charm. For teething, baby Motrin (or Advil, ibuprofen) is better than tylenol. It helps with the swelling and inflammation of the gums better than the Tylenol. Plus it lasts longer. No negative experiences with it and I used it with all three of mine (including a preemie). I will say that I liked to dissolve the tablets in a little bit of water (like 1/2 teaspoon) and squirt that into their mouth rather than just putting the tablets in their mouth. I found that way (just the tablets) I ended up with half of the tablet on my finger instead of in their mouth. :o)

They did not work for my son - and our doctor told us NOT to use them. I think she said they have bella donna in them and it's not good for them?? All my friends had recommeded them so we had tried them - and their kids seem fine - but be careful with them. Good luck!

Hi J.,
Our son is now 9 years old but we used the teething tablets when he was a baby and I still recommend them to people, they worked wonderfully for us. Good luck!

I Loved Them! They worked great for my son. I tried them on my tooth ache once and it really numbs the pain away! Quick dissolve so no swallowing either.

I used all of the products recommended to you in the other posts and found they worked very well in combination! Hyland's teething tablets definitely had a quieting effect on my babies. They really only liked the Baby Orajel when they were fussing and putting everything in their mouth and biting on it (to relieve gum pain). Baby Motrin or Baby Advil worked much better for pain than Baby Tylenol and do last longer (and important feature at bedtime!).

Good luck to you! Hope these help! :)

A note about Hylands: they tell you to put it under the tongue because the skin is thin there and the product is quickly absorbed into the blood stream sublingually, rather than having to wait for it to go through the stomach and into the small intestine before absorbed into the blood stream. Don't spend too much time worrying about how you are administering it...they'll reap the benefits eventually either way! :)

They work great for us! We started using them at about 8 mos, when my dd got her first tooth in. Now she's 16 mos, and will ask for them herself when her molars hurt her. We had a bad experience with baby orajel, which is REALLY strong medicine--my dd accidentally swallowed some that we put on her gum and it caused her to choke, so we will NEVER use that again. I subsequently tried orajel on myself, and HATED it--it felt like I had novacaine! Hyland's has a teething gel that we used, too, when she was cutting those first few teeth. GL!

J.,

My daughter is going through the teething stage too. I do a dose of Infant Motrin and Hyland teething tablets (2 of them) at night. You have to really work to get them under her tongue but they work well. Good luck and take naps during the day if you are able.
