Do You Have a Song for Your Kids?

I love the song "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts and I always sing it to my babies, even though I sing horribly and my babies are 5, 7, and 9. I think it's just perfect.

Do you have a song that you sing to your kids?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Great songs!! I love them :).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who tears up...I heard "My Wish" coming in to work this morning and had some tears.

Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" I want my kids to have it engrained in their brains to not worry and "everything is going to be all right." I used to sing it for my son as part of his bedtime routine but since we shortened that, I use it now when he doesn't want to be still for a diaper change. He always stops wiggling to listen :D

PS-I sing terribly too, but he doesn't know any better :P

With my first, it was "You are my sunshine" but with my second, and true to her personality, it was the Spiderman theme music, but instead of Spiderman, it was Aubrey Anne. It goes, "Aubrey Anne, Aubrey Anne. Mama loves her little Aubrey Anne. She's so cute! Aubrey Anne. Mama loves her little Aubrey Anne. Do do, do do do Aubrey Anne!"

And, I take a bow for the best baby theme song EVER!! Lmbo!

Years and years ago on the soap opera All My Children, "Dixie" sang You Are My Sunshine to her baby and ever since then, that's what I wanted to do. Ridiculous but that's what I sing. I also had to make up the second verse and it makes no sense but my kids don't seem to mind. Along with that I sing "I love you Name, oh yes I do, when you're not with me, I'm blue. Oh Name I love you."

I have a horrible voice so have to keep things fairly short. :)

Transdermal Celebration by Ween.

We listened to it on the way to the hospital and it always calmed her down after she was born. The song reminds me of new beginnings which is what her birth marked for our lives.

Toby Keith's "Heart to Heart". My son is 4 and still likes when I hold him and dance to this. I cry every time because I can see us in 20 years at his wedding dancing to this.

For my little girl, "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KHAaRxyuQk

Great. Now I'm tearing up in my office!

Sounds kinda dorky, but I love "It's You I Like" from an episode of Mr Rogers. It's just very sweet and sincere...

When he was little at night, we'd sing:
"Goodnight, My Someone" from the Music Man
"Deep Purple" (love that song)
"The Owl and the Pussycat" poem by Lear, sung my moi
and sometimes, The Rainbow Connection

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (or Little Bat, depending on her mood), you are my sunshine, and a goofy Good Morning song I made up.

DH sings his own version of Hush Little Baby (but uses her name vs "baby")

The ABC's. It's his favorite song and we sing it together all day long. And when he is upset, I just tell him to sing his ABC's and it calms him down. Boy loves his letters!

I have a song for each however the main reason is that when I was on maternity leave with each the songs were popular and I heard them a lot so when I hear them it reminds me of them being babies.

My sons: You Just Don't Know 'bout Me (Beyonce)
My daughters: Soul Sister (Train)

I usually get a little teary each time I hear them.

Lauryn Hill's version of "You're Just Too Good To Be True" for both. "True" and "You" were among their first 5 words because they'd sing that word when I got to it.

Creed's "With Arms Wide Open" was a song I heard in my head all the time while pregnant with Joseph.

Laurie Berkner's "Victor Vito" is the song we always sing to Victor.

My song for my daughter is "I knew I loved you before I met you," by Savage Garden. It was our song as I waited to be able to meet and adopt her. I don't sing it to her, but we hear it on the radio.

We have other customized "us" songs that I sing to her.
