Does Any Bleeding at 4 Weeks Mean a Miscarriage?

HI Ladies last night about I had some blood when I wiped. No real cramping or anything. This morning slightly more blood. Enough I wanted to put in a tampon. Slight ache in my low back.
I did do an hour long Pilates class yesterday.
So my question is does this 100% mean a miscarriage? I am calling my docs office once they open and asking what testing can be done. At this stage I know not much can be done so I saw no need at nine last night to disturb the on call doc.
But has anyone had this happen at 4 weeks 4 days and still been ok?

added ok waiting on my test results. I had to use a tampon because that was all I had here and at 5:30 am no stores were open. Pads for me now. Tomorrow I will know. Thanks for the encouraging words.

What can I do next?

absolutely does not 100% mean a miscarriage - however, good that you're going to the dr. only they can tell you for sure. i had bleeding around this time (way too late to be implantation bleeding) and i was dehydrated. i got myself all freaked out and they acted like it was no big deal. try not to stress about it. i know that's easier said than done. good luck!

I had a miscarriage, and had no bleeding or cramping when the doctor discovered it on an ultrasound. On the other hand, I had bleeding around 5 weeks with my baby girl- enough that I went in immediately to the doctor. She is now 5 mos old! So bleeding does not mean 100% that you are having a miscarriage.
Try not to worry until you've had a chance to see your doctor. Let us know how it goes.

Make sure you do not use tampons while pregnant. If you have to wear a pad. But i had one healthy pregnancy when we was going for our 2nd about 5 months ago at around 4 weeks i would just have pink spotting when i wiped only. By 5 weeks it picked up to were i had to wear a pad. SO i went to the ER that night they did an ultra sound and showed the baby and a heart beat. 3 days later was my doc. apt and they did an ultrasound there was the baby but no heart beat. So they drew my blood and my hcg levels dropped alot from 3 days ago so they new it was a miscarriage. I passed everything in a week and as soon as i quit bleeding i was pregnant again immediatly. i am now pregnant at 9 weeks and havent had any bleeding and the baby has a strong heart beat. Also when my bleeding picked up i would pass small little blood clots as well and i didnt have any cramping. I hope yours isnt like mine was but if it is just remember that there was something wrong with the baby and your body new it and it aborted it just like my doc. told me it was probably a chromosomal abnormaility. Let us all know what you find out hopefully good new.

No one can tell you if youre 100% having a miscarriage, but you may or may not be. Take it easy physically, and call your drs office. they usually have you go in for a blood test, your hcg count will tell them...if its dropping usually means you are miscarrying, you will get continued cramping and bleeding. I miscarried at 6 weeks once. I hope you are ok though.

I had the same thing and it was nothing. I thought the same as you, too.

Your doctor can verify things for you, though.
Best wishes,
R.

You can have bleeding in early pregnancy for many different reasons. Most are totally benign. Keep that in mind!

I had bleeding at about 6 weeks. The nurse on call told me that if it was more than a pad in an hour then I needed to come in to labor and delivery to get checked out. I had a couple of things going on that thankfully resolved.

I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. Had bad cramping before and then bleeding that picked up. It is a very difficult thing to go through and I am crosing my fingers that everything is OK with you. Lots of women do have bleeding early on and it does not mean the end of the pregnancy.
But if things do go wrong, please know that your Pilates class or anything else you could have done did not cause a miscarriage at this early stage. It just means something was not right with the pregnancy. When I miscarried I took one month off from trying to grieve and heal and pull myself together. The next month we tried and I got pregnant immediately and now have a healthy 2 year old. I believe that she just wanted a May birthday instead of a March birthday! :-)
