My daughter is 20 months and loves to play with dollhouses at my in-laws and the mom and tot class we go to. I'm looking for a dollhouse recommendation - nothing too large or expensive?

What can I do next?

Loving Family Dollhouse is the best...the parts are not too small and the ones that are...they are attached...the kids LOVE it...they can really grow into it!

I got my daughter the Fisher Price Loving Family Twin Dollhouse. I found it cheap on Amazon as someone was selling their own.
Good luck!

I am new to this website so assume you are in my community? I have a little tikes dollhouse, about 3 ft by 2 ft two story with bathrooms, a patio pool.....

It's yours free if you could pick it up in Elk Grove, Illinois. It would cost a lot to ship since it is heavy.

My daughter has outgrown it and I'd love for someone to use it.

My email is ____@____.com if you are interested

My 2 yr old also has the Fisher price My first doll house. I bought it because the pieces are big and I also have a 1 yr. old son so I didn't want to have to worry about choking. I love it and she loves it too.

We gave the Fisher Price Little People dollhouse as a gift recently and it's become a favorite for our friend's daughter (16 months). It has some fun moving parts, 'house' noises (phones, doorbells, etc.) and music, as well as cute little people and some furniture. I think it was only about $30 too :)

I started my daughter out with the Fischer Price Little People Dollhouse. It's very cute and a good starter dollhouse. She is 3-1/2 now and still plays with it.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and I was thinking about getting her the Fisher Price My first dollhouse. It doesn't have a bunch of little pieces that will go in the mouth or get lost and it's not really big but really cute! It's only like $40!! It also comes with a family!

I'm partial to Plan Toys dollhouses & accessories but apparently I'm in the minority on this group! They're not frilly or foofy - just plain and well built. I think the theory behind that is that it encourages them to use their imagination. They're also made from renewable rubberwood if you're concerned about the planet.

We bought our older daughter the Fisher Price My First Dollhouse last year for Christmas. She's going to be 3 in early December and still plays with it. It came with a mom, dad and baby, table and chair set. It also has a toilet the flushes, the fridge door opens, and beds for everyone. It's very cute! You can also get a farmhouse, castle, and other buildings to make a town with everything. I love Fisher Price!
Good luck and congrats on your twins!!

Hello! I recommend the doll house from fisher price. It is safe, fun and not too expensive. My girls love to play with it, they are three & 15 months. My daughter rec'd it on her second birthday, and it comes with three people. It is called "My first doll house". It is for two years old and up. I think it is $37.00's. Easy to clean up because it is plastic. My girls have fun pretending. No small parts to worry about with the furture twins that will be here soon to chew on things and want to play. Well hope this helps.

Hi D.!

I got from Freecycle.org a large Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse and thought my daughter would love it after playing with a smaller version of it with her speech therapist. I was wrong! She was overwhelmed by the size of it and only played with it a few times. She loved throwing all the pieces all around the house and trying to climb into it herself though! Ughhhhhh I packed it up within 2 weeks.

I then went to Walmart and looked for smaller ones for her birthday that were more age appropriate. Right by the large ones there was some smaller ones on the shelf that looked similar to the Loving Family and is made by Fisher Price also. The house is about 12-15 inches (I suck at measuring) tall and it comes with all the pieces including the family and pets- you do not have to buy each rooms furniture seperately. I did buy extra people though since she loves those the most. Walmart is the only place I have seen this and have not even seen it on the FP website... maybe it is an exclusive product for there? They also have other things you can add to it to build a mini city... I just found the veggie stand/ Farmers Market on clearance and for Christmas we will probably get the pet salon as well as the ice cream truck. Best part is- it is much more affordable and it travels easily to Grandmas house with her!

Good luck choosing one! Blessings to you and yours!

Either the Fisher Price My first dollhouse or the Loving Family dollhouse good. I would get the Loving Family one since she is 20 months, that way she can play with it longer. My daughter got hers when she was 3, she is almost 6 now and still plays with it.

My kids have an old dollhouse that my dad made for me, but I've seen the Ryan's Room dollhouse at friends' houses, and it's really nice.
http://www.amazon.com/Ryans-Room-Home-Sweet/dp/B000OY4TG8...
I like the look of it because it's wooden. The furniture is really sturdy and really nice. The furniture that I had when I was growing up was too delicate for my daughter when I gave her the dollhouse, so I bought her new furniture, Ryan's Room, and it's perfect. They have a ton of different room set-ups, and the dolls are also really nice.
Have fun!

My daughter got a great fisher-price one that she loves for Christmas next year. I think it is called the Family Luv dollhouse. It folds up and is easy to store. She loves it!

Try second hand shop or thrift stores. Maybe even post a "want" on freecycle, someone might be thinking of giving one away to make room for more Christmas toys next month.

I read about a woman that made one with a book shelf. She got the book shelf from Target. She used thin wood to make dividers for walls. She used carpet and wallpaper samples to decorate it.

Or Lakeside.com has one for $79.99 that is five feet tall.

Costco has one with furniture that isn't that big with some furniture for $89 I think.

You can real small ones on-line as well, but they typically run $50 or more.

I was looking at the one at Lakeside.com
I can get the house, all the furniture, and have it shipped for $180. I don't know though, it is hard to tell what the furniture looks like from the pictures.

I might just make one.????????
