Early Teething

My son is now 15 weeks old. After overcoming some colic, acid reflux and belly aches my son has began teething (confirmed by the doc). His top teeth are coming down (two eye teeth most likely will be first) no sign of his bottom teeth. Has anyone had experience with early teething. How long does it usually take for the teeth to poke through. The two teeth don't seem too far from the bottom of his gums. My poor baby was just getting really happy and starting to sleep a little bit too, now he's miserable. Any releif suggestions are welcome. I've tried all the norm, Motrin, oragel, and teething toys sometimes cold.

What can I do next?

Unfortunately, I've had the same problem. Colic/Acid Reflux and now teething. My daughter is 17 weeks old and has been teething since she was 12 weeks. She's getting her two bottom teeth (confirmed by dr. as well) and now the 2 top in addition. I've tried the teething tabs (homepathic) and they didn't help. What does help for me is Gripe Water (by Baby's Bliss). I give it to her only at night to help her sleep. My problem isn't just the pain, but the excessive drooling. She chokes on it. The teething tabs that didn't work for me but DID work for my sister are made by Hyland. Good Luck.

I'm not sure how to handle the teething issue but I do know that you are not supposed to give a baby Motrin (ibuprofin) until they are over a year old. My daughter never had too much trouble with her teeth coming in so I can't really help other than that, sorry.

Poor baby. It's so hard to watch them go through any kind of pain.
I don't know if you've ever tried homeopathic remedies. This brand "Hylands" makes teething tablets. I used them with my kids and they really worked. When it's really bad you can give one tablet every 15 minutes for up to 2 hours. It's all written on the bottle. They are very soft and they melt instantly. You can get them at any vitamin shop or health food store. Hopefully it will help.

My daughter, now 18 months went through the reflux, terrible colic and early teething. The motrin worked much better than the tylenol but we found the only way to eep her happy was to give her frozen things to chew on. The best we found was homemade, dont worry its easy! Take one of the pacifiers that you put medicine in fill it with water, now put it in the freezer (upside down so the nipple fills and freezes). As they suck on it they also get cold water wich helps with the reflux. Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

Poor Baby, he's only 15 weeks, and teething?! When my daughter was a baby, I would lightly rub her gums with my finger. Have you tried those teethers that you freeze? you know the ones that are chewy? GOOD LUCK -K.

Ugh, I know what you are going through. My daughter's first tooth came through at about 17 weeks and she was miserable for about 2 weeks prior. My advice: skip the oragel (try it yourself...it's awful!), try a wet washcloth frozen in the freezer, use the pain reliever before bedtime so you all can get some sleep. Luckily, it seems that once the first teeth are in, the rest aren't so bad. It will be over soon! Just look at the light at the end of the tunnel! Good luck!

Hi C.....my two boys were both early teethers as well. Along with Tylenol/Motrin I gave my boys Dr. Golds teething pills or the ovc brand Hylands. Little pills that disolve in the mouth. Seemed to work some but who knows. Also, form walmart/B R US, there is a food net that you can put fruit and such in that the kids can suck the juice thru. I put a small wet washcloth in there and ice cubes as they got older. Good luck...this too shall pass!

I feel for you. I don't know how long it takes the teeth to come down. It feels like forever right? My advice for you is if you don't want to use or can't baby orajel because he is so little try putting a wash cloth in water then in the freezer. Makes a great object for them to chew on.as he gets a little older use watered down fruit juice instead of water.
That worked wonders for my boys. Good Luck.

My daughter is 16 weeks and working on her second tooth. It will usually pass within a few days. She did't want anything in her mouth except a frozen washcloth( which was a suggestion by alot of our other moms. Thanks Again), or her fingers. Now is about the time she learned how to get them in her mouth. Sometime just some tylenol and their own fingers are best. He will let you know when he wants in his mouth. My daughter hated teethers and your own finger. If you try a teether you can put them in the fridge but he may not like them either way. She also got the diaper rash from hell both times now so prevent it as much as possible. Change diaper offten and try A+D ointment with zinc. That way the only thing I found to work. I use desitin at every diaper change at she got a rash. Sometimes all he may want is some mommy time also. Hope I helped. Good Luck..
