First Father's Day Gift

I'm looking for ideas for my husband's first father's day gift. While *I* would love to receive a photo in a frame, a 'parent' t-shirt, or handprints/footprints baked in clay, that's not the type of gift I want to give my husband (mostly because he already has a bunch of photos and such).

Any suggestions? The gift is 'technically' from our 4 month old son, even though mommy is doing the shopping.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the responses. I should have been more clear; I'm not looking for a 'sentimental' type gift (no photos, personalizations, etc.) but more along the lines of what someone suggested with the red envelope site. I *hate* shopping for men! Can't they just love jewelry like women do - ha ha ha!

You mentioned that he has photos, but do you have a good one of him and the baby. For my husbands first fathers day, we went and had a portrait of him and the baby. My husband loves the Cubs so they both had Cubs shirts on. It turned out really cute and my husband was so proud of it. Five years later, people still comment on it. I hope to do the same this year with daddy and his two boys.

It doesn't have to be at a fancy studio, you would be surprised how professional Target, Sears, etc... can look. Just try not to use any of the goofy props that they have.

Good luck,
C.

My husband's first father's day was 2 weeks after our son was born. He got a tie - and a good laugh.

Try Zazzle.com They have wonderful ideas that you can customize very easily. Everything from shirts to calendars. I had a mug made for my hubby for his birthday. It's very easy and very inexpensive. They also have a very fast order turnover. You should have no problem receiving your order in time.

I am in the same boat as you! I will have to read to see the suggestions! I did order a "Proud Daddy" T-shirt from babycenter.com and it was only $14.95. I think my husband will like that--he's easy to please!

For my DH's first Father's Day I got a bunch of Daddy and Me books that they are supposed to read together-I thought it was a good idea.
(FYI-Now that my son is two, I got a bike seat for him to ride on Daddy's bike so we can all go on rides together.)

What about a pocket knife, travel mug or lighter with an inscription engraved on it from your son? Such as I love you Daddy..or something like that. Or really anything that your husband likes that can take engraving.

For my 1st M-day and DH's 1st F-day, we went to www.mommytags.com and each got an engraved pendant with our sons name and bday on it. We both never take them off. It's so awesome to have a constant reminder that my son is close to my heart - even when I'm not with him. They are army-dog-tag style and the men's style looks pretty masculine. My hubby's not a jewelry kind of guy, but is very proud to wear his chain.

I gave a gift to my husband 3 yrs ago and he still loves it (as does everyone else.) I had a photo of our two boys turned into artwork. Ours looks like a watercolor, but there are lots of styles to choose from. Check it out at DaVinci.com

Every year I get a photo mug for my husband from discountphotogifts.com. My husband drinks coffee in the morning, so I get him the stainless steel car travel mug for him with the boys picture on it. He loves it.

I made t-shirts for my boys which said, "I Love My Daddy" and "I Have the World's Best Dad" with Crayola t-shirt markers. I put the boys in their cribs wearing those shirts the night before Father's Day so my husband found them when he got them up the next morning. He loved it.
