Food & Party Favors for Baby Shower

I was asked to help host a baby shower at work for a co-worker who is having a boy this spring. My company has always done the same thing foodwise and party favors for each person's baby shower, so I would like to try to come up with something a little different. Any suggestions other than cake, ice cream and little bottles filled with candy to take home? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I was just at a shower over the weekend. They had a little bag with one 2oz lotion from bath body works and one 2oz body gel to match. I am sure that bath and body works have huge sales on these. The shower was huge and ea guest had their very own. Let me know if you are looking for any more ideas.

If you are having a lunch and not just cake here are some ideas:

having tuna, chicken, egg salad to serve with croissants
-pasta salad
-fruit salad
also Costco and Sams Club have sandwich and the tortilla roll sandwiches

you could serve a simple punch with the meal too
for dessert instead of a cake you could get cupcakes or I know some bakeries do specialty cookies in different shapes/decorations.

for favors I would check out the Dollar Tree stores if you have one near you, they have really nice soaps, body lotions, sachets in really cute girly packaging.

for a favor- you could make soap, it's really easy, melt & pour from michaels, scent it, color it and use baby molds to shape it. I make more complicated soaps such as cupcake molds, if interested feel free to email me.

If you are looking for an amusing game to do at the baby shower, some friends of mine did this at my work shower and it was just too funny!

They gave everyone a small piece of paper. Then handed out one piece of hubba bubba bubble gum to each person who had to chew it up and then mold a small baby and place it onto their paper. Then the "babies" were judged for their uniqueness. The mother then has to pick a winner and call the winner up for a prize. As far as food, we had finger snacks such as nacho chips, salsa, cheese dip, fruit and cheese tray, lil smokies in bbq sauce with a hint of grape jelly. You could also have alcohol and non-alcohol punch for the guests. If you want a different idea for dessert. You could always try angel food cake and strawberries. You could always rent a cotton candy machine or have a chocolate fountain to dip fruit or pretzels into.

A couple of other games ideas that we did at other work baby showers are as followed:

1. Guess the baby food jar.
2. Guess the melted chocolate candy bar in a diaper.
3. Guess the baby photos/ try to find the guest of honor. (Have a group of pics selected of guests)
4. Instead of giving a bottle of candy to each guest, give an ice cream certificate or a scented one time facial mask (can be found at Walmart for a $1.50 each. Or fuzzy socks (cannot have too many of those), or simply a photo book with the mother to be in the first slot.

Good luck with the shower! Have Fun!

For my baby shower, my SIL's, had a brunch. Monkey bread, quiche, fruit, etc. Breakfast buffet food. It turned out to be great. As for favors, I don't remember, but they play games where players pick presents out. (oven mitts, kitchen utensils and towels, picture frames, etc.) The games are fun when there are prizes. Way better than bags of candy passed out to everyone I think.
