A lot of ladies in our office are doing the HCG diet. Where you take drops, and eat a 500 calorie a day meal for 43 days. Any one ever done it?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I purchased one bottle for around 40, they are made in the USA. I did have to listen to the explanation of the diet and how it works before they would sell me the drops. They did state that you can go for 21 days to 40 days with drops and a 500 calorie diet, but after that you have to, have to jump to a 1500 calorie diet with OUT the drops.

A friend of mine, who was pretty large did it without stopping the drops, and with out vitamin supplements and she started losing her hair. She lost a lot of wieght, had her hair grow back, and only gained 8 of the 45 she lost. When I called her she said she was going to go back on it. So here goes for a jump start on a healthy weight loss.

The HCG has nothing to do with losing weight. Put anyone on a 500 calorie
diet a day and they will lose weight and probably collapse at one point! I
personally would not do it. Too dangerous.

Yup! Amazing. Some doctors are now saying you van get the same results with 700-800 calorie days. Beware of those who yell u not to try/believe it. There usually the ones who have never done it. It's a great way to kick off a healthier lifestyle! Good luck.

I'm sure it would work in losing weight but does nothing in keeping it off. That's done by changing your lifestyle and not a diet.

This is so unsafe. anyone will lose eating 500 cal a day, and they will gain it all back later too. the drops are a scam. Please talk to your doctor if you are considering this!

A lot of people will say they know relatives who have done it with great success. However, usually non of those people kept the weight off for a significant amount of time. I have not met one single person who didn't gain all the weight (and even more!) back in a years time.

I havent done it, but had a friend did. It didnt work and it is very dangerous! Let me tell you, whenever you drop to 500 calories a day, drops or no drops, you are going to lose weight! But your body is not getting the nutrients it needs. Everything she did lose came right back once she was on a regular diet. I dont doubt that it works for some people, but I strongly advise against it. My husband is a pharmacist and he just goes on and on about these diets and how bad they are for you!

My good friend did it. Paid lots of money for it, and couldn't last but a week. She said it was painful to eat so little. For some people that isn't possible. For some, they may do great with it.

I did it and lost 20 lbs....and gained it all back! I have since joined weight watchers and have lost more and plan on keeping it off because I am working to change what and how much I eat and that just makes more since to me. When I did the HCG I did the injections and HATED it. I HATED having to carry my 4oz grilled chicken breast and lettuce with me everywhere. And I can't even look at apples anymore, hopefully that will change over time. Uggg...I just hated it. It would be nightmarish to even consider doing it again.

But with that said...If you need to lose weight for health reasons and can keep it off afterward by changing the habits that got you there in the first place, then give it a try. I never felt unhealthy while on the diet and had plenty of energy (also took B12 injections). My mother was diabetic before and lost 25 lbs (on HCG) and her blood sugars have been stable since then...but she is starting to gain her weight back too.

Metabolic Research Center has an HCG diet, but you don't take drops or injections. You use their protein drinks and other shake supplements for a month. Apparently it can get great results fast. I declined to do it because I thought that would be too strict to stick to.

my husband and I both did it and it was a huge waste of money. We were tired despite B12 injections and starving despite an appetite suppresant. Dont do it. It's a fad thats quickly passing.

I have friends and family who have done it with marvelous success. But they all agree to take the injections, not the drops. Time will tell if the weight stays off. I know one person who has kept it off for going on two years.

I am doing this diet with the drops... although I have altered it a bit...
I do 1 month on and then 1 month off, and then I intake ###-###-#### calories instead of the 500...
I am on my 2nd round right now... the first round I lost 15 pounds then worked to maintain on the off month... in this second round I'm down another 5 pounds with just over 2 weeks left in this month, then I'll work to maintain it again... I figure I will do a few more rounds after this...
Before, I had plateaued with just doing cardio kickboxing 3 times a week (my diet had already been adjusted to eat more healthy foods)... after being plateaued for 3 years I started the HCG and added Zumba once a week... so far so good... and I'm really not hungry during the day.
