Home Foundation Repair Referral

Please help. I am separated from my husband for 1 1/2 years now. He refuses to be of any help regarding this issue. Our home had foundation problems back in 2001. The company that did the repairs placed piers along the front and part of one side of the home (according to a diagram that I found in our home). That has worked fine until this year. Now the back portion of the home particularly is showing signs of foundation issues both externally and internally. I do not have a clue about this sort of thing. My husband insisted on handling these kinds of things and answered my questions with short reponses so I, regrettably, am in the dark. I would really appreciate a referral for a reputable foundation repair company. I need a company with integrity, who will not take advantage of a woman and that will be detailed in explaining what needs to happen in order to get the NECESSARY repairs done. If you have any first hand knowledge regarding a foundation company's ethics and excellence in repair, I would greatly appreciate your help with a recommendation. Thank you so much!!!!

I can tell you who NOT to use. DO NOT use Metro Leveling (also called North Texas Masonry.) They completely ruined our foundation and took thousands of dollars from us.

We are in the process of re-doing almost every single thing that Metro Leveling did to our foundation.

We are now using Abacus Foundation and have REALLY been happy with their work.

You should definitely use Angie's List and the BBB site before you hire anyone.

Good luck.

Foundation work typically is covered under a lifetime warranty that stays with the house even if it's sold to another owner. Look at the paperwork and call the company who repaired the home. Call them out on a warranty call to look at the foundation first. Perhaps some of the problem is covered under the initial warranty. Then get a quote on additional work required to fix it. Ask if there is a discount b/c you have used them in the past. Get several quotes from the companies that are recommended to you--be sure to ask if there would be warranty issues down the road b/c you already have work done by another company (they could end up pointing the finger at each other and refusing to cover something). I hope this info helps and good luck!

most foundation repair companies offer a life time warranty, so you really need to find out the name of the company that did it so you can have them come out and do the warranty work. You should not have to pay for it yourself. At least try to get the name of the company from him somehow. Sounds like he is just being a jerk.

Hi S.,

I am so sorry to hear about your foundation dilemma. I understand that can be a bit scary, especially when you have no support from "spouse", or are eerie about who you can trust. Well, I have a friend..Andrew Torres, who has done foundation repairs for the past 15 years. Mr. Torres has exceptional references and there is not a more trust-worthy person. He can be a bit "witty", but extremely professional, has honorable work ethics and an all-around "good-guy"! Give Mr. Torres a call ###-###-####) and let him know "L." referred you. And I'm certain Mr. Torres will offer a more than fair price quote on your foundation repair.

Become part of the fastest-growing team in the company with unparalleled support. Earn residual paychecks part-time or full-time. Experience not needed - we'll show you how easy it is! I would suggest you go back to the company who did the front and side. They may be able to adjust what they've already done to fix the problem with the back of the house. If they recommend putting piers in the back, see if they'll honor the same price they give you back when they did the work before. Many places are struggling for customers and any business is better than none.

If you don't trust the company you used before, my parents used Olshan in the late 90s and were very pleased (they even came back and did additional work at no cost when my parents noticed additional settling). We had Olshan do work at our house this spring and were very pleased. I highly recommend them. Comes with a lifetime transferable warranty.

you really should try to figure out who did the last repair as most offer a lifetime warranty- which would be no cost to you. Sorry I don't have anyone to refer you too though.

Be aware that the warranty only covers those areas where they installed piers. It's possible to have more shifting in areas that were not treated and those would not fall under warranty. I can't remember who looked at our house earlier this year, but whoever you choose, check them out at the Better Business Bureau website.

I'd recommend Advanced Foundation Repair, the work they've already done is excellent and if they go out of business Wells Fargo will still honor and pay for any future work. (Though I doubt they will since they are quick and excellent quality work). However, check with the company who did the first work and make sure it won't void any warranty you have with them to have another company do the repair. Also do not use Abacus Foundation they did a friends house and it was a total disaster they took weeks, left carpet out in the rain, and my friend has had constant issues with plumbing, electricity, etc since the work was done. A good guide is to go to google and search the company and complaints or problems or dissatisfied and see what comes up about them. Also check to make sure they are insured and registered with the BBB.
