Hello,

I need some advice. Are there any single moms out there that don't get any Child Support that can still manage to pay for Childcare? I have a 16 month old and may be in this situation very soon. Any advise would be very helpful!!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

Try Google searching "government funding for child care" or "subsidies for child care", or "subsidies for single parents" etc.

It will take some research, but if you find something it will be worth it.

All the best and good luck,
Susan

Where do you live? I live in Carson City NV, I am a single parent of three with no child support. I get help with daycare from The Childrens Cabinet. I pay a percentage of daycare fees and they pay the other percentage. They will pay anywhere from 50 to 90% of the fees. I dont know if CA has anything like this or not, and in NV I did not have that long of a wait to get the help I needed. I reapply every 6 months and The Childrens Cabinet works with several daycares in Carson; so I had a large selection of places I could take my kids. Good luck to you and keep God close and be blessed!

This is where I get my assistance from, even with child support, it's tough to manage. The state of California doesn't have as many programs, as other states but it's out there if you look.

I am a daycare provider and sometimes providers will work with your income. The YMCA does not take kids under age 3 or 4. I am located in Lakewood/Long beach border and may be able to help depending on your situation.

Hi D., call the YMCA and if you qualify they will pay for your child care, there's YMCA, there's CDA, to get CDA you have to be at your job for at least 6 monts, long waiting list, but not for the YMCA. J. L.

Hi D.,

I'm a single mom to 3 and do not receive child support, so I know how scary it can be. There are usually city or county run programs that will assist or pay for child care depending on your income. Most programs have long waiting lists, so I would call your local welfare office and ask them for a referral to agencies that assist with childcare. I also found our local referal agency in the phone book. I'm in Anaheim, but if you hit a dead end I can give you the number and you can call them for an agency in your area. just email me.

I don't qualify for aid because of my income, when my kids were small, I found a family friend that was as stay at home mom and paid her to watch them. When they became 2 or 3 I found a pre-school in my budget. It took a lot of calling and interviews. Now thankfully they are in school and I only pay for after school care...it gets cheaper and easier on the daycare front as they get older.
