How Do You Make Your Coffee? Just for Fun!

Everyone in my family jokes about how I make my coffee. They all say I like it so strong a spoon will stand up in it. It's true, I do! But, when I first started making coffee, I had no clue how to make it. I read that you use 1 tablespoon of coffee for every 6 ounces of water. So, if I make a 12 cup pot of coffee, I use 12 tablespoons of ground coffee (unless it's a dark blend, then I go with fewer scoops.)
So, how do you make your coffee?

ADDED: I love flavored creamers. I usually have 2 different kinds in the fridge. My favorite right now is International Delight Chai Latte. I love their whole Coffee House series. The Carmel Macchiato is to die for!

What can I do next?

Okay, nobody laugh. I use 3 TBSP of coffee for a 12-cup pot. Yep, colored water! Then I add some FF half & half and a couple tbsp of flavored creamer, and top it with ff whipped cream and vanilla bean sugar. Dessert for breakfast! I guess I don't like my coffee to taste like..., well, coffee!

I have a Bunn, it makes coffee in 3 minutes. I make a 10 cup pot and use two tablespoons of coffee. Mostly I drink tea now tho, but when I do make coffee that's my formula :)

I like mine weak. I love the smell and the taste, but hate the laxative effect. So, if I make it weak I get the smell, the taste and less trips to the bathroom :)

We used to call it Physics Coffee because I would be up until about 3:30 in the morning doing physics homework in college and we used to say we threw away the scoop. We were always up in time for our 8:00 class, too, usually at breakfast by 7, so we lived on coffee--just punch a hole in the bottom of the can and pour some hot water through!

Now I just grind it to a really fine powder, grind a little more than I think I need just to be safe, and make it super-strong. Other people can always water it down a bit if they want to. I use a cone filter a lot now since I'm not drinking the full 12 cup pot while I'm pregnant, so I make a couple of really, really strong cups each day. Friday's coffee tasted like I was eating a coffee bean, so I think it was a little strong even for me. =)

(I still don't measure, so I usually figure about what looks right based on being familiar with the coffee maker. If it is too strong for the first cup, I run another cup of water through and drink the first cup stronger. I used to use 1/2 and 1/2 sometimes but am down to a bit of 1% or skim milk to save $$ and calories, and go through black coffee phases, too.)

I make mine like you make yours. Occasionally I will use one tablespoon less than "required" (i.e. 5 TBS for 6 cups of coffee), but that's rare. I like my coffee with anything from plain cream to flavored creamer. As long as it isn't black, I will drink it! :)

I hate coffee and the smell makes me want to throw up. LOL. But hubby likes it so I deal with it. I make him flavored coffee in the coffee pot. I put 2-3 tablespoons. Then I make 6-8 cups of water. He likes it with lots of sugar and milk. We joke because it's like a sugar milk with a flavor of coffee.

For a 12 cup pot, I use 1/2 cup ground coffee. And I take my coffee with half-and-half, and either lots of sugar or a couple of artificial sweeteners (I need it sweet!).

EDITED TO ADD: Love my Keurig too! We drink enough coffee between the 2 of us that making a pot makes more sense economically, but sometimes it is nice when I just want one cup in the afternoon, or a flavored coffee that DH does not care for. Or just that first cup to get me started before I get the coffee pot up and running!

I drink espresso shots made at home. :) Italian style. (Meaning about 1 tsp of sugar per shot). Heavenly. And I'm absolutely brutal about insisting on buying Illy coffee. I'm a huge fan of starbucks... but NOT for espresso. For espresso, it *needs* to be roman.

When I go out I'll drink turkish coffee or starbucks caramel macchiatos.

Growing up in New Orleans I used to only drink coffee with chicory. That'll put hair on your chest!!!

Years ago I dropped caffeine (and chicory) so now I drink flavored coffees - Cinnamon Vanilla Nut and Caramel are my favs, but Hazelnut works also.

I prefer half and half and no sugar - but have been known to use those powdered creamers that are one ingredient away from being Formica. LOL

I use a heaping tablespoon for each cup marked on the coffee maker - so six tblsp for 6 cups. Which really only pours out to be 3 mugs of coffee.

I love coffee!!!! Fun question, thanks.

I love the smell of coffee, but I seldom drink it. I drink TEA.....love that.

Anyway, I make coffee for company all the time and they always rave about it. And I always ask, are you sure, b/c I only follow the directions....

I use the coffee measure/scoop that comes with the coffee. I use a 12 cup programmable coffee pot, it's black, forgot the name. I use one less scoop per amount of water....so for 12 cups, I would add 11 scoops of ground coffee. And then the secret...I add a few sprinkles of salt. Not even a dash....just a few grains. I put out half and half, milk, a variety of sugars and artificial sweeteners, cinnamon and cocoa and peppermint candy canes....got to use those up somewhere.

For evening guests, I will blend decaf with regular or make 2 separate pots, one regular, one decaf.

Your coffee doesn't sound all that strong.

I have no idea how many scoops I put in per how many oz, but my SO says it's very strong. LOL.
I used to make my grandpa coffee and he loved it!
I use sugar (can't be substitutes, has to be real sugar), and I use international delights french vanilla. I also liked peppermint mocha, irish cream, etc.
If I want it cold I mix black coffee with hills bro's double mocha powder, blend it, and pour over ice, or blend with ice cubes.
The hills bro's powder is also good in vanilla latte, white chocolate caramel, and french vanilla. You can actually just add it to water or milk, blend and serve it cold or hot, but I like the extra kick of the black coffee with it.
I like starbucks, coffee bean, and many many many many many more coffee shops.
=)

And I thought my coffee was strong, lol. I only make enough for one cup but it's 3 spoons of coffee and i fill the coffee pot to the number 4 line. I like to add carnation instant breakfast (chocolate) to mine, along with 2 not heaping spoonfuls of sugar, and then whatever flavored creamer is the flavor of the week in my fridge. I think I have 4 open right now ;)

You are so funny! I make mine very strong as well! I always grind my own, so I do 8 heaping tablespoons of beans that I grind finely for 8 cups of coffee (we don't quite need the full pot for just my husband and I). So, I guess the same as you.

Let your fam know that there others who love strong coffee too!

Hi!

I make it with one less scoop than cup of water. Such as 9 scoops for 10 cups. My husband and I like our coffee strong too. He adds a lot of flavored creamer. I add a small splash of skim milk.

Fun question!!!
