How Much Do You Pay? - Columbus,OH

Ok I have been searching for some childcare for my 6 month old son. I have a few potentials, but how much do you pay, should you pay, etc. I am looking at a mature teenager who has experience babysitting and said she would help around the house too. I may not work as much as anticipated. I have seen ads for like 15/hr and I just came from WV and the nurses I worked with there pay their sitters about 20/day for a 13 hr day!

What can I do next?

I have two little girls and my childcare equals out to be about 24.00 a day for each, so $48.00 a day. My sitter has them about 10 hours a day. That is about average on what I have seen. I have had two other sitters before and they were $25.00 a day. :)

Thanks,
A.

Hi M., I was also looking into child care for my 9 month old son & everywhere I looked was around $25.00 a day. Most of the places I looked at had hours of 6:00am to 6:00pm also, and I looked at both daycares and in home child care. I am actually going to babysit my friends child now, to bad you don't live closer. Hope this helps.

Hi M., I recently ran an ad in the local paper for babysitters and got a decent response. In doing minimal research on pay (just b/c everyone's advice varied so much) I threw out $7/hr for our 18 month old and will go to $9/hr when our second child comes along in approx 5 weeks. The 2 girls we selected have college degrees in early childhood dev and education. They both had great references. The one gal mentioned she was making $10/hr but for a very wealthy family.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

I have always paid $5/hr to babysit my 2 young kids, and have never had anyone complain. To the contrary, I have loyal sitters who are always happy to come back. I add on a little by also feeding them a meal, and always tip an extra hour's pay at the end. So to sit my 2 kids for a 2-hour date with my husband, they get $10pay + dinner+ $5 tip. That's worth anyone's time, don't you think? :-)

Hi M.,
Just thought I dlet you know that I provide daycare services in my home including meals and snacks, activities, and learning for 150 a week fulltime, and I am considered cheap for all I do. The ads you seen are right when I worked full time I we paid our sitter 10hr. It tends to be mor expensive for part time or someone coming to your home. If you take your child somewhere your rate is going to depend on what they offer which is usually nothing just a "sitter" or if they watch a tone of children your rate may be less. If you are going to go with a teenager I would only offer $5-6 hr starting. If you are interested in taking your child somewhere I do have an opening, Im not sure what kind of hours your looking for or hwere your exactly located, but if your interested let me know. Otherwise hope I been a help, and good luck! T.

We have our child in an infant room at a daycare center and pay about $170 a week. I asked a friend how much she pays for an in-home daycare and she pays $25 per day, per child. This is the second place she's been and the first place also charged that much.
