Morning Ladies,
SO we did our baby registry yesterday, and the travel stroller set we had in mind is a little too heavy for me(I'm 4'11", weughing 100lb). HELP!!! Does anyone have suggestions on a great light weight stroller/infant car seat? Also, would you recommend babies r us or elsewhere for registry?

What can I do next?

I know you posted this was awhile ago, but I'm 4'10" and I used the Graco Snugride at Babies r Us for my primary stroller. Until my daughter was about 9mos we got a baby trend jogger for more heavy duty walks. The Snugride stroller part was awesome for me b/c it was so light. I had a C-Section and it made it easier. My daughter was small so we still use it-she's 1yr old. Best of luck to you :)

If you have a Graco infant seat and absolutely have to have a stroller, then I would look into the Graco Metrolite strollers. Babies R Us didn't have them. We went to USA Baby. They are not sold as a travel system. You have to buy the infant seat and the stroller separately. But the infant seat will fit on the Metrolite stroller. If you don't care about getting a stroller immediately, then the frame is better. Advantage to the Metrolite: in the long run, it's cheaper because you don't have to buy a frame and a stroller. Disadvantage: It's still not as light as the frame stroller.

Also, note that strollers are NOT made for every type of use. You will probably find that you will have to buy two or even three to fit your various needs. Or, you will have to sacrifice convenience for cost and space.

I would 100% suggest the CHICCO travel system! The car seat itself is awesome, it has a very easy to read liquid, level indicator on the base, so you know that you have it positioned correctly in your car! And the car seat carrier has a one hand release that makes it easy to get it in and out of the car and stroller. I think it is the lightest wieght I have pushed around. I am having twins, so I am having to go with a twin travel system, but if I was only having 1 I would go with CHICCO again!

Also, Babies R US is the BEST place to register! They are so nice and easy when you need to return something. We also registered at Target and it was a hassle EVERYTIME we went to return something. We got a bunch of duplicate gifts from target becasue they did not update our registry very well. We had no problems and nothing but help at Babies R Us!!

GOOD LUCK!

Not sure how much this will help, but we purchased The Graco Quattro Tour™ Deluxe travel system and I found it quite bulky and somewhat cumbersome when running light errands. A girlfriend suggested purchasing the SnugRider™ for a lot of the day to day activities so that I wouldn't have to pull out the 'big' stroller and WOW! LOVED IT! Highly recommend it. In the event that you don't purchase the Graco brand infant seat, Babies R US sells another brand frame compact stroller that claims that it will allow for other infant seats to be used with it. Hope the info helped. Good luck and congratulations!

I have had 3 kiddos, and 1 one the way, and if I had only known with my first about the frame strollers that you put the pumpkin seat in, I would have done it for sure. Now I will be confined to a double stroller, but I would recommend the frame until you are ready to put the baby right in the stroller. Then, there are tons of lightweight strollers that you could use. They just dont accommodate the infant car seat. Good luck!! ~A.~
