I've been dealing with preterm labor for 3 weeks. It's actually worring me because I don't know what's normal and what's not anymore. I'm 32 weeks now and since 29 weeks I've been between 1 and 3 cms dilated and I've been on 10mg of procartia for the last 2 weeks to stop my contractions (I still have them). Today was my last day with the pills and now I've been having a horrible head ache, my contractions are still there and my back is in excruciating pain. The thing that is bothering me is this thick, white discharge that just started up. Discharge doesn't usually bother me if in small quantities (i know that's normal) but the fact that there was so much that I've used 3 of the overnight maxi pads and it's only 3 o'clock worries me. Do I have a reason to be worried or does that sometimes normally happen in the 3rd trimester? Any ways to soothe my head ache or back pains?
Well I went to the ER last night at like 11 and didn't go home till about 3:30 am. They dubled my procartia dose whileI was there and it made the contractions worse. I was on an IV but near the end my blood clotted so they took it out and just gave me fluids. The baby was good but my blood pressure kept dropping. They finally got everything stable but they could no longer stop the contractions so, I was sent home and the nurse told me they'll probably be seeing me soon because it won't be much longer. Thanks ladies!
I would call you doc. right away and see if you can get an appointment, then let him send you to the hospital if necessary.
I know this web site is a great resource for questions and problems but what you are describing sounds like a serious condition that ONLY your doctor is qualified to answer. Please place a call to your OB right now. Doesn't matter if it's after hours.
I'd call your doctor. I could be wrong, but the discharge does not sound normal. For your headache, I would take some Tylenol. My doctor told me that that was okay to use during pregnancy. Your back pains are probably part of the contractions (Back labor), however a massage would probably help ease the pain a little.
I agree call your doctor discharge could be your mucus plug and back pain could be labor I had horrible back pain with miscarrage and did not know thats why. Also headaches could be a sign of pre aclampsa which is not good.
it could be your mucus plug but I personally would take a trip the the hospital that you will be deliverying at and have them check you and put you on the moniter to make sure everything is okay.
Call the doctor! At 32 weeks if you still have contractions, now discharge and no more pills to stop it I would even have someone take me to the ER. The last thing you want is to second guess your gut until it's too late.

This will give you some peace of mind! This may be normal for you, but I would say it is a-typical. You have made it to the third trimester so that is an important milestone, but the longer Baby can stay put the better.
As for treating the symptoms, I like a hot water bottle or heating pad on warm for my back. Most doctors also allow tylenol during pregnancy, but I am a worry-wart about taking anything so I use mint and menthol scents for my headaches unless I really can't stand them. Actually, a vicks vapor rub tablet in a warm shower is my pregnancy go-to.

Go to the doctors right now. That doesn't sound normal. I have only had one and am preggo with number two. With my first I lost my mucus plug a week before I went into labor and it was only thick and pink for that one time nothing more so the discharge sounds off. I would go get it checked out just to be sure. Can never be to careful when it comes to your baby. Good luck.
I had mostly back labor so I didn't realize I was "in labor" with my first one. The seems like a lot of discharge. Talk to your doctor.
I would head right on over to the hospital. None of that seems normal to me. I've only had one and I'm preggo with #2, so I'm no expert. You will always rather be safe than sorry when your baby is involved.

Headache can be from blood pressure issues or dehydration. Dehydration can cause pre-term labor as well, so make sure that in the midst of all this, you stay hydrated. Keep drinking water, gatorade, and clear liquids!!!! stay away from caffeine unless your dr specifically says its okay.

I was on procardia for high blood pressure when I was pregnant. I didn't know it was also used for preterm labor. If you have high blood pressure, that could be the cause of your headaches.
Call your doctor. Never ever risk it when you're pregnant. I'd rather bother my OB every single day with questions than to take chances.
Definitely call your doctor. That much discharge is not normal, going through thin pantyliners is. :(
