I need a vacation and the only one I'll get is with my kids and my husband. Eh, not so bad. But I've never been to the Dells before. Anyone got any suggestions on where to stay, what to do, should the grandparents come, too? I'd appreciate any and all ideas even if it's not the dells. Thanks in advance

We go to the Dells every year for a Winter Vacation. We rent a Villa at the Wilderness resort and Grandma and Papa come along and everyone has a great time (especially after the kids crash at night and mom and dad can go out since the babysitters came along). The Villa has 2 bedrooms upstairs, a large bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub upstairs, a shower bathroom downstairs, a full kitchen and eating/living room area with pullout couch.

The water parks are Fabulous and are great for all ages.
If you stay at the resort hotels you can get great coupons for area attractions and restuarants.

Have FUN!!!

We stayed at the Polynesian with our twins who were 4 last summer. It is a good water park for children up to around the age of 10. It has an indoor and outdoor waterpark. The hotel also has water play areas for the little ones. I priced a few places and the Polynesian was some where in the middle. We got free tickets to go to Mt. Olympus for each night we stayed. (This is a good deal because that place can get pricey.) I think our third night was only half price at the Polynesian. There is a restaurant that I wanted to try across from the Polynesian that has a buffet and train rides. However, we did not do this. We got a suite that overlooked the inside pool. We brought some groceries from a nearby Walgreens and stocked the refrigerator. Our balcony overlooked the outdoor pool area. (There is only one or two suites, the rest are regular rooms, but I'm sure they would be fine.) We had plenty to do with the hotel's waterpark and the Mt. Olympus free tickets. When my kids were three we also went to the Dells. We took them on the Original Ducks and our tour guy was entertaining and it was a fun ride. We went shopping in the downtown area and stopped at a candy store. We ate at a restaurant that looked like a building made out of logs and the view of the water below was just beautiful. (I don't remember the name of it, but it was right in town, right off the main road a block down or two..... if that helps any.) There is a deer park that is supposed to be fun, but we ran out of time. Have fun!!

We went to the Dells with my twin boys last summer (they were 18 months). We went to Mt. Olympus. They have an indoor and outdoor waterpark and amusement park. There were things that my kids were able to do at the amusement park and waterpark. I looked at other big parks, but not much for kids that young. Lots of the hotels give you free tickets to Mt. Olympus if you stay with them.
