Looking for a New Winter Coat

I'm looking for a new winter coat. I'm petite, so I don't like overly long coats that make me look shorter, and prefer not down (my last coat shed feathers all. the. time). I have a 3 in 1 coat that my DH got that is OK, but not really for very cold weather. The hood isn't lined, etc. Does anyone have a coat they love?

What can I do next?

I just bought a danili north face coat, yes they are expensive but so worth the money, and I love it. It keeps me super warm but it isn't too hot to wear indoors. I've worn it in -10 degree weather and it still kept me warm.

I love my "Insulated Squall" parka from Lands End. Their coats are on clearance now too.
It's very warm and not down. DS wears the kids version (the regular Squall, not the insulated, though... I get colder than most people around me, so the extra bit of warmth is worth the extra bit of bulk).

Plus, LE lets you return things FOREVER so if you wear it in the snow, even if you wear it several times, and decide it wasn't what you really wanted, it's no problem!

I have the Metropolis Parka from The North Face and I love it. I have been wearing it for three or four winters already and it is still in great shape. It is down, but it doesn't shed. It is long, but I like that I don't need to wear ski pants or long johns with it most of the time. I live in the coldest place on Earth and spend lots of time outdoors (recess duty, lunch duty, bus duty, snowshoeing, tobogganing etc) and my Metropolis hasn't let me down! I can also wear it walking around in the mall without overheating.

ETA: I love my wool coat as well. It is great for spring an fall, or if I am just going in and out of the car, but it is not much use for spending any time outdoors in cold winter temperatures.

Believe it or not, my favorite winter coat is a a wool one that I bought at thrift store for $5. It's a bit too big, but here in NH that's good because we tend to dress in layers, but even without layers that baby is warm. It's boring black and probably not fashionable but it does the job and that's all that matters to me.

My favorite one was a wool one bought on sale at Macy's.
Mine has a hood. It's been great.

Old Navy may have some, too. Just make sure it's wool.

I bought 3 winter coats last year at Macy's on clearance. I love them all! I also bought my daughter a beautiful warm winter coat in the petite section at Macy's. Macy's is by far, my favorite place to shop for winter coats.

I have a JNY wool long coat, taupe that I got on an EXTREME sale at Macy's.
I hat puffy, bulky coats!

Land's End is having great sales and their stuff holds up. Free shipping, too. Now is the time to get great deals on coats. You can go to any department store of your choice and get great deals. Something like Macy's is affordable and will have a great selection.

And I agree with The Northface if you are looking for something very sporty. They hold up forever!

A third vote for North Face. I have 3 (a jacket, a fleece, and a coat) and all are wonderful. The fleece zip up I've had for 7 years and it it still looks near new. Worth it!
