Ah, the game game.... Congrats on finding a first name that you both agree on!

I think Wyatt is a great name. A 3 syllable middle name would flow well with it...
Wyatt Emerson
Wyatt Cameron
Wyatt Zachary
Wyatt Jonathan
Wyatt Benjamin
Wyatt Isaiah
Wyatt Finnigan
Wyatt Theodore
Wyatt Christopher
Wyatt Edison
Wyatt Damian

I also think a middle name that starts with W would sound good too:
Wyatt Winston
Wyatt Wesley
Wyatt Weston

hey there P.,
yeah for the name wyatt! my husband and i have a 13 month old who was about to be named wyatt. we too suffered from the middle name crisis which ended in us choosing the name logan as an alternate. he was destined to have the middle name ward so we decided not to have the wyatt ward combo..... in the process we debated over middle names such as dylan, and of corse logan, and also dean. i am a fan of using family names or maiden names for the middle name. good luck choosing........

You could make Wyatt the middle name, but call him by that name. That way you can get the flow you want.

I like the idea someone suggested about using your maiden name. I kept it as a second middle name when I married my husband. Also, I like the name Henry. I know it may sound like an old man's name to some (my husband's opinion), but it's a comforting name for me. Good luck.

HHHMMMM, Can I say that I love the name?!!! My kids have W names as well. Allan, Craig, Andrew, Wayne, Darren, Michael, Mark, Quint, Trueman, Edward, Dean and tons more...I don't know your last name to know the how it will all sound together but when I was picking my boys' names, Weldon and Waylon, I got some old name books at a used book store and tried to match and 'old' name with another 'old' name. Wyatt Thomas, Wayne Allan, and Wesley Andrew were a few that I didn't use. Congratulations and have fun picking a name!!!

How about a family name, like your dad or your husband's name. Just be sure you don't make initials spell out something unfortunate. Alternately, another W name, like Wyatt William, would be cute.

I really like the way the 3-syllable-names sound...Wyatt Alexander, Wyatt Benjamin, Wyatt Jonathon, in order of preference. Just make sure that if you choose a middle name that begins with a vowel, that his initials don't spell something weird (i.e., Wyatt Alexander Graham = WAG--not too bad, but could cause some teasing in school if kids figure it out).

Are there any family names you can use? Like maybe Dad's first name, or a beloved uncle or grandfather? I think Wyatt would go with just about anything. Wyatt John, Wyatt Charles, Wyatt Jonathan, Wyatt David, Wyatt Daniel etc.

Otherwise you may want to get out a babybook and just just shouting out names until you both agree on one that fits.

Good luck!

Since last names aren't shown, it is difficult to choose a middle name to see if it flows!

Of course I loved Wyatt Earp! Do watch initials, as kids are extremely cruel.

If you're Catholic, you also get to add a confirmation name (which is rarely used). I picked mine so the initials would flow (MARS)and then my married name changed it to MARM....didn't work out like I had planned. At least his last name won't change. LOL

I am also one who likes using family names. My father's name and my father-in-law's name went to one of our sons.

My sister was named after our two grandmothers.

And I've heard some people do not like the first middle and last name to each have the same number of syllables: David Michael Ransom, for instance. I think it just depends on the person.

If I were in your place, I would most likely choose a consonant-beginning middle name. Consonant-beginning names tend to get remembered longer, in my opinion. (Wyatt Thomas, maybe)

Also, be wary of what the child's initials end up being. My sister hated it that her initials were R.A.W. (Rebecca) so, she didn't mention her middle name unless she couldn't avoid it. Kids will find out and make fun of such initials as P.E.E. or P.E.T., even B.I.G.

Good luck!

The first thing that popped into my mind was James. I see that others have suggested that, too.

For our son we wanted to honor both our fathers with a name. My dad's name is Roland Woodrow and Hubby's was Mervyn Lee. I was really pushing for Woodrow Lee (Woodrow was also my grandfather's first name), but we were afraid that everyone would call him "Woody" and we did NOT like that. So we combined "Roland" and "Lee" into Leland for a middle name. Maybe you could do something like that?

Let us know what you decide!

Use a name with more than 2 syllables, since Wyatt has 2 syllables. I like Wyatt Alexander. It depends on your last name, whether it all flows together nicely. And do pay attention to the initials, although not much bad can come from WA?. Keep us posted on what you decided!

Hi P.,

Congratulations on the expected bundle of joy! My husband and I just had our 3 baby this past March and we named him Wyatt. We named him Wyatt Caleb after my great great grandfather, who was a civil war veteran. The name has been used in my family for several generations. Other variations have been Wyatt Harrison and Wyatt Logan.

Hope this helps or gives you some ideas.

You are so generous to ask us for suggestions, as naming a baby is one of the first joys of parenthood! I love naming babies, but, alas, am done at our house unless we get a dog or fish.
Wyatt is a great name! Your last name kinda has to be in the mix for the perfect name, but here are my ideas.
Wyatt Alexander
Wyatt Jacob (especially if your last name also has only one syllable)
It sounds best with "classic" names to me: Wyatt Joseph, Wyatt Matthew. Are those too boring? I can't wait to see what other people suggest! Have fun!

P. -mom to three well-named boys, if I do say so myself! :) My favorite girl name is up for grabs since we're done. Fiona Violet!

Earp!

Sorry ~ too easy.
When a name, especially one as nice and unique as Wyatt, ends in a consinant, then it will flow easier into the middle name if that begins with a vowel. You have a lot of suggestions starting with an "A", like Anthony ~ if you say all these suggestions out-loud you will see what I mean. Obviously the last initial is "H" but can we hear the entire thing? It will make a difference too as suggested in some other responses.
Just to be funny, I am surprised that you didn't get any of these suggestions...
Wyatt...cold in here?
Wyatt...happening?
Wyatt...gonna rain?
Wyatt...always me?
Again, sorry ~ too easy! But it IS one of my favorite names.
Or, like someone said, try using your maiden name or a grandfather's first or middle name. For my first son I used my father's, father's middle name...Palmer.
Hey! Wyatt Palmer! Cool! Goes against the whole vowel thing, but whatever.
Let us know please, whichever you decide.
God bless you and your new family.

My cousin being a big wild west fan named her son,
Wyatt Earp. Which we all thought was cute. But then the fun started when the poor thing he ended up with reflux, so in the end we all called him "Wild Urp". No foolin, he has since gotten over it but he's to young yet to realize when he starts dating it will all come back.
Good Luck. and remember they don't always have to "go together" to be great names. It will grow on your family sooner or later.

Don't worry about it too much; if you're like most
parents, you'll only use his middle name when he's
done something bad ("Wyatt Nathanial Jones, you'd
better get in this bathroom RIGHT NOW!").

Of course, this is your first boy; he'll be doing
a lot of experimentation with bodily functions at
various stages of his maturity. So no matter *what*
middle name you pick, there will be long stretches
where you will be convinced that is real name is
"Wyatt Uuuuurrrrrrppp" (sound of belch goes here).

You know, on a western theme, I am thinking I really
like Wyatt Holliday. Then you could see how many
people "get it".

Hi P.,
I have read that when you have a short syllable first name you should go with a longer syllable middle name. If you go with a longer syllable first name you should go with a shorter syllable middle name. Of course it all depends on your last name & most importantly... if you like it! :) I had fun picking out our son's name. We had to choose a boy & a girl name b/c we waited until his birth to know if he was a boy or girl. My son is Benjamin Barrett. I think Wyatt James sounds nice, but I think you should try to pick something that is a family name or important to you & your husband. That's how we narrowed down our name selections. My great great grandfather was Benjamin & my husband's great uncle passed away when I was pregnant so we went with "B" names in honor of them. Also, we loved the name Benjamin & Barrett is my husband's middle name. Another idea is to use your maiden name. I love my son's name because of all that it means in our family history. It makes it extra special. Even if it's a family friend or someone you or your husband are close to that your are naming him for, it will make his name be even more special.
Best of luck & let us know what you decide!
Sincerely,
A.
