Moms over 40 with Grown Children and a New Baby

Hi,
I'm looking to meet mothers over 40 who have older children (that are grown and out of the house,) AND a new baby....I have tried to join a "moms" group but it seem no one has this in common with me. I feel like a lone ranger!! In fact one YOUNG mom made the comment to me that I was old enough to be her mother. OUCH.... I know she meant no harm or disrespect, but, it made me feel out of place in the group.
Soooooo if anyone is in the same boat I would love to hear from you!

Hi Cathy,
I'm in almost the same situation as you. I'm 38 years old, SAHM, have a 16 YEAR old son and a 13 MONTH old son. Most of my friends have older children, none with a baby, and all work outside of the house. I met up with a couple of moms as well and they were all on their first baby and I felt old as well. If you'd like to email me, my address is ____@____.com (it's my two dogs names combined) I live in Richardson, not far from McKinney. Maybe there are other moms like us out there, have you heard from any others?

I'm sorry that someone said that to you. Women can be so rude sometimes. Have you tried a church sunday school class? My husband and I visited a class when we were trying to find our roots and the people in some of the classes had similar family situations. Our church is very big, therefore might have a class where you would feel comfortable. I have found a moms playgroup through my church sunday school class and we are all in similar stages in our lives so it is wonderful to meet them each week. It might be worth a try to check it out. It is prestonwood church and they have a website. I have met some lifelong friends there!

Cathy,

I can so relate to your feelings. I became a mom, the first time, at age 40. It was so hard, and I felt so alone. Then, a friend invited me to a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson. The group, however, is truly non-denominational. There are several other MOPS groups in the Metroplex. I am so thankful for this group because it allowed me to meet other moms just like us. And believe me, when you start interacting with others, you will see that you are no longer a minority. One of my best friends that I met at MOPS is a mother of two grown, married children, and two twins in 2nd grade. To add to it all, she lost her husband in a tragic accident, and is having to raise her twins on her own. I also have a neighbor who is older than us with a nine and seven-year-old. My daughter just started school this year, and I was releived to meet more moms my age. Yes, there are still the young ones who I do not relate with, but it is getting easier. Good luck, and welcome to Texas.

Cathy,
I can understand I am 40 with older children 22,19,14 all from a previous marriage as well. My husband and I have no children because I can't have anymore. If you would like to talk please call or email. Right now, I am at home due to a car accident that happened in January. Would love to hear from you.

Hi -

Well, I don't have grown kids...but I am 45 years old, with a 4-year-old boy and a 17-month-old girl, and I live in McKinney. Is that close enough?

We moved here a little more than 1-1/2 years ago from North Carolina, so I know what you mean about feeling lost.

Send me an e-mail if you want to meet somewhere for lunch or something sometime.

I know what you mean. I don't feel very old until I think about the age difference. I am 41 with a 3-yr old. My husband is 49 and has grown children.

Hey Kathy,
My name is Bee and I live in Prosper. I don't have older children, but, I'm a "old" mom! I'm 43 and I have 2 children, ages Katie 2 & Aaron 3-1/2. Most of my friends have kids that have just graduated from college and mine aren't even in kindergarten!
I'm an assistant band director/choir director in Prosper.
If you'd like to talk, please feel free to email me.

Cathy, I can understand! I have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren (from my husband's first marriage) and a 2 yr. old and a 6 month old! We have several "unusual" families like this in our church. I live in Frisco but go to church at First Baptist, The Colony. I don't know if that's too far to drive--but you'd definitely find company at my church. By the way, I'm 39 (and holding!). Let me know if you want to know more abou my church--we'd love to have you visit. Also, we have free ladies only workout classes M-Th with free babysitting--it's a fun time to chat and get in shape. Hi Cathy!!

Girl, you should have bopped that girl in the head!! I am 42 and have a 25 month old. Yes, not as young as yours, but still have a young one. Now, I don't share the older age kids even though I did have step-children in my first marriage. I was not allowed to continue those relationships, so again I don't have anyone, but my 2 year old.

Unfortunately, our SE Allen MOMS CLUB GROUP is only for the SE Allen area, but I also coordinate another Play-group that meets once a month for Play-Dates and MNO's. Now, we meet other times too, but "officially" it is just one time. Girl, I am the oldese out of all of them and I am just fine with that. We have older mothers, and younger ones too. Of course, I am pretty peppy and outgoing and no one ever guess that I am my age because of the way I act. Send me an email and I can give you more info if you would like at ____@____.com

You may be surprise at our group. We come from all over!!

Take care and good luck!
