Mothers Day Gift for Four Generations of Women

I have the honor of spending mothers day with my daughter, mother and grandmother this mothers day. I was trying to find a gift for all of us that we could all have or wear or a normal to remind us of each other. Or something to represent four generations. At first I was thinking a necklace or bracelet but my daughter is 3 and I cant find anything we would all want to wear that can withstand her wear and tear. Does anyone have any other ideas? Besides a picture of the four of us. TIA!

What can I do next?

Do you have a picture of the four of you together? I was thinking of maybe getting t shirts made up with the picture on there. Your daughter could even have one as a sleep shirt!! If you do bracelets, you could have your daughter just wear hers on special occasions. It would be a good opportunity for you to teach her the value of important things and how to respect them. Just a thought. Hope you have a wonderful day!!

What about a pin? Your daughter would be able to wear it, assuming she would leave it alone for a few minutes (because after a few minutes, she'll probably forget about it). You could all wear one, and it will last and your daughter can still wear it when she is older.

You could wear it on Sunday, on special occasions, or whenever it looks nice with something you are wearing.

I know you said besides a picture, but a few years back we did photos of hands and feet and they turned out beautiful. You put all your family members' hands in a circle, same with feet. You really see all the resemblances even between the furthest generations. You also see any jewelry which is always fun since sometimes women have rings etc that will become heirlooms. It turned out to be a really great keepsake. Especially because hands in particular are such an important part of our personalities and are often a reminder of a loved one. It's a photo but a little more creative/artistic than portraits.

In my family all the women have a "forever ring" that we all wear on our thumbs. I actually bought 2 sizes for my daughter.... because she was 4 or 5 when we got them..... so I bought one for her to wear then and then one for when she's older.

They weren't that expensive. They are very thin silver and have a small heart in the band. I think I got them at a Lia Sophia jewelry party.

But we are ring people :-)

The other thing you could do..... except it's not tangible..... is buy everyone a star. I don't really even know how that works, but I know you can do it. That would be nice, but unique.

warning...this is a picture idea....

when i was 27 yrs old, i found pics of me and my mom and my grandmother and great grandmother all taken when we were each 27 yrs old....4 separate pics of each of us. i had it framed. it was surreal to see the resemblance of all of us when we were all around the same age. you could do that with pics of each of you at 3 yrs old.

Hats -- you could all have hats in the same color but maybe different styles for each age group. Or maybe just all wear pink baseball hats with your names on them. It depends upon your personal styles.

I bought my daughter a bracelet from a mall kiosk (it was called Silver Mountain) that has removable links so you can add or subtract as needed. They are very durable and they had adult sizes too. Just make sure you get real metal!
Another idea is a recipe book (either a traditional book or an online book) and you can have all of your favorite family recipes in one place from all of the generations and continue to add to it and pass them down! If you're not crafty, they can be made for you for a fairly decent price! memorablerecipebooks.com
