I am in desperate need of some advice on how to get lipstick out of a beige suede couch. My toddler decided to use an entire tube of lipstick on her aunt's couch and we have no idea where to start on getting it out. Thank you in advance for anything you can tell me.

Try using something called "Pink Soap". You can get it at Michael's. It is used to take paint off of paint brushes, but I use it to get out any stain. I have even used it to get out red wine spilled on an entire sleeve of a white sweater. Good luck!

I have a Martha Steward Living stain removal guide that states:

For washables: use a combination solvent to remove grease. Using an eyedropper, flush with white vinegar or a mild bleach to remove remaining color.

For nonwashables: use an oil solvent to remove grease. Dab with white vinegar to remove remaining color. Dab with cool water, dry flat.

A combination solvent is something like Shout or Spray 'n Wash

An oil solvent is K2r, Afta, dry cleaning fluid

Mild bleaches: lemon juice, white vinegar (mixed 1:1 with water), 2% or 3% hydrogen peroxide, or ammonia (2 parts water to 1 part ammonia)

there is a product called YOWZA... Maybe you can look it up online to find the closest location to buy it. I know of a family that runs a carpet cleaning business and they gave me a free bottle of the stuff; she says it has never failed her. She cleans Pizza Hut carpets and she says they have the worst stains, and this is the only product that worked. I've used it on so much!! even dried blood on my son's pants (scraped both knees really badly) and it worked in like a minute! good luck, sounds like you have quite the little artist :)

Im not sure about lipstick , but I had a Min Pin who got into some cooking oil we had in fry daddy outside waiting to be cleaned. She ,needless to say , got sick all over my dark brown suede couch . The couch covers zipped off . So we took them off and steam cleaned it with water only . There are some kinds of products you can use on seude but they are very costly . The steam cleaner worked ok . There is still a spot that looks a little darker than the rest but that is why we have little pillows to throw around and cover those little imperfections. Also you could try going to a leather store . They may be able to give some ideas.

We have the same couch and the 3rd day I had it my son took an ink pen and wrote about 5 lines on each cushion. You should have some stuff that cam with the couch to clean it, you will pour this on there and take a cloth and hold it on there don't rub. after it soaks then rub. call a furniture store and ask them. Good luck

i agree with one of the previous posts. goop is good. it took out the ink from my micro suede sofa when my daughter wrote her name on the side. just use a damp terry cloth dipped in the goop, and rub in circles. then wipe with a clean damp cloth.

I found this on eHow.com ... (I just realized someone else already provided a link to this info ...!! )

Step1 Use your Tide To Go pen and squeeze out a small amount of liquid from the pen and apply to stain.

Step2 Rub gently on stain until it has disappeared from the suede.

Step3 Allow to dry and touch up if necessary.

And isn't it lovely art too!!! Well, I do have something that will take out the lipstick and the permanent markers and most any other art work you have around the house, and believe it or not, this stuff will not harm your furniture, walls, carpet or anything else. Also, it is safe and non toxic. Hard to believe, but it is very true. And best of all you can get this stuff at wholesale prices shipped directly to your home. Give me a call, ###-###-#### and if you let me know where you are, I can come to you or I can show you all about this company over the phone or over the internet. I have an ad on Mamasource under Triad Wellness. Check it out. I would love to hear from you. I also have a website, www.dspainter.advancingwithus.com and my email address is ____@____.com.

Try Goop. It is in the automotive dept. at Wal-mart, Target, etc. It is a hand cleaner for mechanics.

When I was a kid, one of our friends drew with permenant marker on his mother's newly recovered sofa. It took a while but it came out. Good luck.

Below are a few websites I found that might help. I haven't tried all of these remedies. But note that some fixes work on some things and not on others. Also, you want to always be sure to do a test with whatever product(s) you choose to try before using it on a visible area.

Now, the one product I have tried, and swear by, on all types of stains (including lipstick and two-week old blood stains) is called Spray Power. It also works great as a substitute for expensive cleaners in a carpet shampooer and I keep a bottle in my laundry room for last minute hand scrubs before putting things in the washer. If you don't live in the Ohio Valley, you may have a tough time locating it in your stores. WalMart is the contract carrier of this cleaner but they do not carry it nationwide. They may be able to order it, however.

Hope you find something you can use.

I have always used Stain Devils by Carbona. This comes in a small yellow bottle and they really work. There are several different formulations depending on the stain. I am looking at one and the # on the back is 1888-###-###-####. I got mine at Wal-Mart. Good luck! What I will also say is DONT use Oxiclean without testing it first! My friend used it on a red couch and ended up with bright pink spots which were worse than the paint she was trying to remove.

I've got no advice on the lipstick problem. But I just wanted to say that I think it's a wonderful gift you are giving your sibling and his/her spouse. You know what a wonderful blessing it is to have children and I think it's fantastic that you are carrying your sibling's child for them and giving them the wonderful gift of children.

Find a product call red out or wine out, check the big hardware stores, it takes red cool aid out of white carpet. If you can't find it their try the net. The other thing we used to do (we managed low income appartment, we've seen it all), try fresh lemon or lime, put it in the microwave for 15 sec, then poke a hole in it and pour out on stain, wait 10 minutes then add ice and salt rock (mixed), scrub it around, let melt and clean up. But red out is the best. Good luck Kris
P.s. remember lipstick is grease, pinesol, bleach, and good dish soap eats grease.

You know I think if it were me, I would pay a professional to come and get it out. Usually a good carpet cleaner can do that and will know how to do upholstery too.

I read your profile. I want to commend you on being a surrogate for your brother or sister. I read your profile and I think that you are doing a wonderful, wonderful thing. I have always said that I would do that for my sister if for some reason she couldn't have one. That didn't happen but I always thought it would have been really cool, so I want to say that I think that you are doing a really brave and wonderful, loving thing.

Definitely don't try doing it yourself -- call a carpet cleaner (look in the Yellow pages for one that also cleans upholstery) and pay whatever it costs -- only they can do it right and it will show the aunt that you are serious about making it right! Priceless......... as they say!

Time to call in the professionals. If it is totally ruined, your next step is to offer to have slipcovers made, or have it reupholstered. Who left the lipstick where girl could get it? That is a favorite of a 2 yr old!
