Need a Good VPK Program in Plantation

We just moved here and I'm looking for a good Preschool program for my four year old daughter. I am looking for a true preschool and not just daycare. Any thoughts? We live near Pine Island Road and Sunrise Blvd.

What can I do next?

Adventure Bay on Cleary and Nob Hill. It's a great school. My daughter is enrolled in VPK now.

I don't live in the area so I can't help you by word of mouth. This website should help you get a head start though.

http://www.elcbroward.org/vpk.aspx

Near the bottom of the page there is a VPK provider list, click on it & find your area, it should show all the vpk names & addresses, their credentials, etc. What I did when looking for a vpk for my son was do a drive bys, if I liked the outside, then I make an appointment to visit them! ask your questions! I narrowed down my list that way.. Bring your daughter when you visit, see how she reacts to the school, teacher, etc..That could also help you make your decision!

To find parent ratings of the schools, try www.greatschools.org although some ratings maybe old, so you can't really depend on these too much! & some don't even have ratings.

Lastly, check out meetup.com/sfp playgroup. I am a member of this wonderful group! There are moms who live in your area & possibly can give you feedback about vpks/schools. Plus you & your daughter can make new friends! :)

Good luck!

my daughter went to the kindercare on sunrise blvd near hiatus. she loved it there and we loved having her there. it's a structured day and not just a free for all. it's been over a yr since she's been there and she still asks to go visit.

J., I don't know if you moved from another place in FL or not but if you moved from out of state then you need to educate yourself about the VPK program in FL. Ani already gave you the link for that info.

I know many who like Plantation Community Church's VPK program. If you are willing to pay, you could look at the preschool at Our Savior Lutheran (I'm not sure they take the VPK voucher but it doesn't hurt to ask.) Another one that I hear again and again is not super close but everyone seems to love is Parkway Christian - on Flamingo Road, just south of 595. You could take Sunrise to Flamingo and it wouldn't be too bad. There is also a program at Plantation Methodist that I've heard super good things about - especially their summer camp program. St. Gregory has a pre-kindergarten program but it is full time, doesn't take the VPK voucher and is expensive. Most people say that is academically more difficult than a preschool program really should be.

There is also a preschool at the Temple on Peters Road, it is kind of behind the Whole Foods at Peters and University. Sorry I can't remember the name of it right now. My Jewish friends love it and I have a Catholic friend who sends her daughter there as well....

Good luck! C.
