I'm a SAHM who will be moving to downtown chicago near Michigan Ave. I would like to know if their is a demand for in home child care in the loop area.I'm licensed by the state and have been caring for children for years. I'm interested in knowing if this move would be beneficial for me.

What can I do next?

Hi there!

I will also be looking for affordable full-time daycare at the end of Feb/early March 2007. Can you give me some info as to what you would be charging?

Thanks,

Hi
I am very interested to know if you have openings for an infant starting October and what you charge. I work in the Loop and would prefer for my son to go to daycare downtown rather than the suburbs.
Drop me a line,
L.

I work in the West Loop and it would be convenient for us to bring our son downtown for childcare. We are seeking childcare in Jan. 2007 for 1-2 days a week. What are your rates and availability?

Hi, I'm new to this area and am wondering what you've charged for your services where you lived before moving downtown. Do you care for infants and toddlers? Is there a different charge for babies and pre-schoolers?
As I read the other replies, I didn't see any specific amounts that parents were paying for child care, or what they considered to be too high. Do you know if any downtown employers assist employees with their child care costs?
I'm also wondering what the going rates are for providers with "pre-school programs". Do you have something like that? What would parents get for their child if they used your services? (beside a good home, meals and playtime) Do you know what other providers offer? It probably would help if you knew what your competition was doing and what they were charging.
How did you get the word out to parents when you first started doing child care?
GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I think that there is a great need for affordable child care in the downtown area. I worked for a large company downtown and was not able to find anything in the loop. My company did a lot of the research for me and only found in home child care centers that were located in the Cabrini Green projects. I can't imagine anyone wanting to leave their child in a crime and drug infested area like that!

I second that response -- affordable childcare is very difficult to find. There are plenty of people who are caught between not qualifying for childcare assistance and not being able to afford one of the few centers near downtown or a nanny. It is especially difficult when you live AND work near downtown. You don't have anywhere else to turn at times, and moving is not always an option...

Hello,
There is a high need for childcare in the loop. I recently returned to work down in that area and all the waitlists at day care centers are years long. I am not sure what the in-home lists are like, but I found the options very limited and resorted to putting my son in a daycare in my suburb. It is less than ideal because with my commute, he is there 10-11 hours a day. I would love to find available care downtown.
Hope this is helpful!
