Need Moving Boxes

I need to find a bunch of moving boxes. A lot of our stuff will be in a rental storage unit for a few years (dental school) and so I would like them to be fairly durable and stackable. Anyone know where to find good moving boxes?

What can I do next?

Last time we moved someone told us to go to Walmart. Call your local store and find out what time you can come pick up boxes. They have a ton and were very good quality. Some were even triple thick like for packing glass and breakables. They get so many boxes everyday and they just recycle them (or throw them out) so they're happy to give them to you.

I know it's cooler to scavenge, but you can get good quality moving boxes at Sam's Club for just under $2/box.

OR

Scavenge dumpsters: vacuum stores, newly built communities (they have people move in every weekend).

Unless you're totally strapped for cash, your time might be worth more than the $2/box.

You could try www.freecycle.com. It is a great resource to find free things from people in your area. I have seen moving boxes on there before. If you are in the Salt Lake area look up http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SaltLakefreecycle/
Good Luck!

Having moved 10 times in the past 12 years...go to the fresh fruit and veggie dept and find out when they unload their apples. They are bar non the best boxes around. They are sturdy and also the same size, so it is very easy to stack. Most items fit inside of this type of box. For the very large items, you can get them from the other dept. of the grocery store. When I'm desperate, And don't care the quality of the box. Just go to the back of the store (where they bring it all in from) and ask when they unload boxes and when you can pick them up. Also the back of "Family Dollar" Store, they have a dumpster specific for boxes. So you can scrounge through the dumper and not find anything but boxes.

Liquor Stores have great boxes they are sturdy and built to stack. The one in Cottonwood heights just stacks thiers in the entrance so you can take all you want. Also grocery store produce department apple boxes are fabulous. I have lived in nine houses in the past 13 years so moving is something I know
