Does anyone out there know of a dentist out there that takes Aetna DMO besides Monarch? I've tried American Sunset Dental and they are the biggest con-artists I've ever met! I just can't seem to find a half way decent dentist that takes my insurance. I live in Forney, but don't mind driving if it's worth it.
Thanks for you help!

I have Aetna DMO and I HATE it!!! We went to Monarch, but I think they are probably just nearly as much con artists as the others. I am changing my ins. come January because I would rather pay a little more than have to go to the cookie cutter dentist office. Here is a link that should help you out in finding one . . . http://www.aetna.com/docfind/home.do

Lilly,
I know three wonderful dentist, but not sure if they take your insurance or not. You would just have to call and ask. My youngest child goes to Just for Kids here in Forney. They are wonderful. Their phone number is 972/564-2222. The rest of my family uses Dr. Emmons in Heath. Her office name is Integrity Family Dental. Her phone number is 972/771-8383. Our old dentist, before insurance changes was Dr. James Ball. He is located at Beltline and 30. His phone number is 972/226-7600. I pray that this helps, and may God bless you. S.

I worked in dentistry for 8 years and dentists hate DMO's and simply refuse to take it. You get what you pay for...lousy insurance..lousy treatment. You're stuck with who your insurance tells you to use, or else it's out of network and out of your pocket. About now is the time most companies are having insurance enrollment. Go to HR and see when you can change your options and go with PPO's for both health and dental if they offer it. You'll be much better off!

We use Dr.Payne and Dr. Edwards in Mesquite. Don't know what they take but call and ask them. We love them and so do our kids. ###-###-####.

I have the same insurance and I really don't like it. I know you can try Apple Orthodontics. I just called Aetna the other day because I needed an orthdontist. I'm in the Mesquite/Garland area. My dentist won't take any new patients for general dentisry. If you need an orthodontist you can call Dr. Charles Oakes in Mesquite off of Galloway that's where we've decided to go for braces. Good Luck!!

I've worked in dentistry for 20+ years as a registered dental assistant and office manager. People tend to think "insurance is insurance", but it's not. There are indemnity plans with no restriction on providers, PPO plans where you can choose either in or out of network providers (both good choices), or DMO plans.

DMO plans don't pay the dentist anything for your treatment, instead they pay the doctor that you are assigned to a flat monthly capitation payment (usually 3-5 dollars) to put you on their patient roster. When you see the dentist, you pay your VERY low copay, no claims are filed and the doctor gets no reimbursement for the procedures. Just to seat a patient in a dental chair costs the office about $20 in disposables alone. After the office pays for barriers, cleaning up, sterilizing and sanitizing, use of equipment, supplies, and staff salaries there is no money left. In other words, the dentist works for free (and a lot of times at a loss). That is why you'll find only Monarch, or heaven forbid the "smile" place in Balch Springs on your list of providers. They have dentists just out of school, or trained in foreign countries who tend to only stay a few months. They double and triple book patients and underpay staff (which means undertrained, too).

If at all possible, change to true insurance. Yes, it costs a little more, but you get what you pay for.
