Hi
I will be going away with my baby to the bahamas and need a good, nontoxic, safe sunscreen. Can you recommend one?

Thanks,
R.

I've had great luck using California Baby SPF Sunscreen 30+ no fragrance. This is a non-chemical sunscreen, tear free, no PBA and no nut oils, gluten, soy, oat or dairy.

I like blue lizzard australian sunscreen - it is available at local stores but if you cannot find it locally try onestepahead.com

Also the best way for young children & babies to stay sfae is SPF clothing. Land's end, llbean, onestepahead.com and many other retailers sell SPF clothing.

Hi R.- I use nothing else but California Baby for my 2 little ones. You can now find it in most Target stores - in the baby wash/moisturizer aisle. If you go to http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php?nothanks=1 you can find lots of information about non toxic items for yourself as well as the babies. It's been my go to when I need to purchase something.
Good luck and have a great time on your vacation!

I have used Earth's Best and Burts Bees and they work great. Can find both of these at most stores, Burts Bees is sold at Wegmans

Not that your would use this now, but beware of the aresol spray sunscreens, all brands I have tried have stained our clothing orange!

we use the Neutrogena spray for sensitive skin. Our pediatrician and dermatologist recommended it. Additionally, try buying the bathing suits that have SPF in it as well and always wear a hat that covers the neck.
Have fun!

Hi, R., I see you've received multiple responses, but felt the need to reply. Please DO NOT put anything on an infant that age other than a product stating that it is ALL NATURAL. I only use Burt's Bee's. Neutrogena and other big name brands all have harmful chemicals, regardless of what age your child may be. I have always tried to cover my 3 children w/ light cotton clothing & hats while in the sun, as most products do contain a few harmful agents.
Good luck!

I agree with Kerry -- check out the Skin Deep database (safecosmetics.org) by Environmental Working Group, and you can evaluate for yourself which product is the safest for your child. Good luck, and have a great trip!

Hi
I have a 7 month old and just bought California Baby for our trip to Florida. I've heard great things and the Birth Boutique in Denville suggested using it.

Well, I do know a great company that sells all organic and nontoxic products. It's called Melaleuca. Not sure if you've heard of it before. They do have sunscreens and in fact I believe they even have ones for just children. If you're interested, let me know.

Our pediatricians recommend Water Babies. They always said at least 50spf, but I've seen it higher now, so get as high as you can.
Have fun. Also, keep a hat and cotton shirt on the baby to keep him out of the direct sun, even though he'll have sunscreen on....that you'll reapply throughout the day. :-)
