Need Suggestions for Facial Creams Please

I have pretty sensitive skin that can also have a tendency to break out, and I tried erbaorganics baby lotion. It works great - not heavy and very soothing. You can get it at Target (in cosmetic section) for about $8-$9 - it's in an orange tube.

I've always had good luck w/Aveeno products. They aren't too pricey (plus there are coupons in the paper every couple of weeks), and they have a few different formulas, including a Sensitive Skin formula. When my dry skin gets super bad, I also use plain old Cortaid on the dry spots before going to bed at night.

My post will be lengthy but hope that what I share will help you (and other readers) as much as it's helped me.

I picked up this book called "Beauty Secrets of the Bible" by Ginger Garrett. It's wonderful!

She give recipes in the book for the most natural and cost effective skin care available. I have always had dry skin as I'm bi-racial and have literally spent hundreds of dollars on products that haven't worked including Mary Kay & Avon, no offense intended. I experienced dramatic results within a week! I will NEVER EVER buy another commercial cosmetic product again that is how convinced and happy I am. It's been a month and a half and my skin has never felt this soft and smooth and flake free!

Step One: Wash and Exfoliate
1 c. powdered goat's milk (any powdered milk works really)
1 c. quick-cooking oats
Process in a blender or food processor until VERY fine. I actually put the oatmeal into a coffee grinder because it makes it finer. Then I mix it into the milk powder.
*If you have dry skin like I do...add 1/2 to 1 c. ground flaxseed to the mixture. I buy a big bag of whole seed from the bulk bin at Whole Foods...very cheaply too I must say. Then I grind them in the coffee grinder and stir into the powder.

To wash, simply sprinkle a quarter size amount into you hand, mix into a paste with warm water, massage onto face, and rinse. Keep face damp for the next step.

Step 2: Nourish and Plump
Apply 1-2 drops honey to wet fingertips and massage onto wet face. Do not rinse. You can pat dry if needed. Amazingly enough...This works WONDERS! and no.. no stickiness either.

Step 3: Moisturize and Protectt
Put a few drops of extra-virgin organic olive oil onto your hand...rub your hands together and then pat the oil onto your face. I rub it into my face 'cuz I love the moisture. This is good for your hands too.

That's it.

It takes so little ingredients that I am anticipating the extra money I'll save in contrast to spending $30 a bottle on this, $20 a bottle on that.

Ginger has a few more wonderful recipes & tips in the book so if you want them....buy it. It's worth its weight in gold.

Feel like splurging on some 'mommy, quiet, me time'? Then take the wash mixture and make yourself a milky,creamy, hot bath. It's LOVELY! and my skin loves it too.
Oh, and I simply must add that I do not miss the pain of accidentally getting soap into my eyes or mouth. Rather, I intentionally sometimes lick my lips after the honey...yummy!

I had to go to a dermatologist because I had such dry skin and I am 50 yrs. old. He said I had allergies. But I was watching Oprah and she had Jaqueline Smith from Charlies Angels on and she suggested Albolene skin cleanser instead of soap since it dries your skin. I have been using it and the dryness has actually improved 80%. I never use soap on my face now. I hope this helps. It did for me. I purchased it at Walgreens...B.

I love Burt's Bees face creams. They're all-natural, so no nasty chemicals (which may be great for you since you have sensitive skin). I've tried several different types and they all have worked well and I've never had any breakouts. They're priced around $7. I get mine at our local co-op/health food store, but I've also seen Burt's Bees products at Target.

I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin. It feels great on my skin, and it's not too heavy under make-up. Best of all, it's available anywhere (Target, drugstores, etc.) and it's less than $10/bottle. Here is a link to the Neutrogena site so you know what to look for at the store.

I use plain old Oil of Olay--cheap yet moisurizing. I think they make a fragrance-free kind. Otherwise, you may want to go to a health-food store (Nature's Bin, etc) and see what they have--Alba and Burt's Bees are good brands.

oil of olay makes a light skin moisturizer with spf 15 in it. they have version specifically for sensitive skin, it comes in a white bottle. i've used it and really like, i have sensitive skin too. also it's oil free so it won't clog pores or make you feel greasy.

Try Eurceane calming creme it works great for me and des not cause break outs as I too have sensitive skin

I know how you feel about having sensitive skin. I felt the same way. What I found to be my absolute favorite is Daytime Protective Emulsion from the Sense skin care line. I too have sensitive skin and get dry patches in the winter. I have been using Aveeno calming lotion. It doesn't burn my face, doesn't leave my face red and spotty, its not to expensive and it has helped to rehydrate my dry patches without leaving me oily. I highly recommend it. Good luck

I used to have dry patches on my face also. Someone recommended using a daily scrub. I took that advice and haven't had the dry patches in several years. I use an inexpensive daily scrub by Neutrogena.

I am a huge fan of the Sephora shop at Franklin Park mall. The salespeople are very friendly and helpful. If you tell them your needs they will really try to find the perfect product for your skin. The best part is you can take home samples of anything in the store for free. (I swear I don't work there!)The products can be pricey but if you tell the salesperson your price range, they usually work with you. Plus if your skin is really sensitive, it would probably be worth it to spend a little more (and use a little less) since most over-the-counter skin care products are loaded with water or alcohol.

I have always used Oil of Olay.(for about 19 years) It is the only moisturizer that doesn't make me oily and leave me with dry patches. I use the regular formula even though I have sensitive skin. (but they do make a sensitive skin formula.)
Compared to department store moisturizers it's very inexpensive(I think the bigger size bottle is $8 or $9)My old boss uses the same thing, in a quiet moment while chatting, we discussed how fabulous it had been for both of us!!!

Try Nivea Q10 age defying cream. It cost about $9 at Wal-Mart, which isn't bad considering a lot of those creams are $15-25. It's worth it though. I have extremely dry and sensitive skin and this is the best cream I've found in my price range.

I have seen a dermatologist since i was in the 6th grade to present & he says it's great to use & also has suggested CeraVe (comes in a hydrating lotion & cleanser). R., I too have sensitive skin and am quite the penny pincher. I like Cetaphil. I use Cetaphil soap (liquid and bar) as well as their facial lotion and hand creams. It is somewhat pricey, not anything like department store prices and is available at Wal-Mart, CVS, etc. Hope this helps!

My kids get that patchy dry skin in the winter. Their pediatrician recommended Aveeno Baby. It works well without irritating their sensitive skin. I know they make products for adults too. They are very gentle (especially the baby versions) and are supposed to be very natural. They may even have a cream especially for faces in the adult line.

Try Cortizone and just put small amounts in the dry areas. This way it isn't too oily for the other areas of your skin. Plus, it is cheap!, hehe. Good luck.

I love Oil Of Olay - the original formula - I can usually find it at WalMart for approximately $6-$8 for a 6 oz. bottle (comes in a box) you can also find coupons in the newspaper.

Don't wash your face with soap - use a moisturizing cleansing bar. Soap dries out your skin.

First off what products are you using to wash now? You need to read your labels. Somethings give you a quick fix but then they have ingredients that are acclusive to the skin. Which put a layer on the skin and it can't breath. I have very dry skin and excema (sensitive!). So I can relate!!
