Pediatric Dentists in the South Hills

Ladies,

I am looking for a pediatric dentist in the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh. We are in South Park, but Baldwin, Whitehall, Pleasant Hills and Bethel Park are all pretty convenient. (as a single mom, convenient is a BIG deal for me) I am looking for someone really good with small children, jokes around with them & is good at making them feel comfortable, because this will be my 3-year old's first visit.

Our pediatrician recommended Kristy Cupelli, but she is on the far side of Bethel Park and would be 20+ minutes in the opposite direction from everything else in our lives (daycare, my work, etc.). But if someone told me that she was absolutely wonderful with small kids, I would make it work.

TIA,

Kali

I was a temp hygienist for Dr. Brandes. She is located in pleasant hills by Bowser. I only worked for her one day, but her and her staff were really nice.

My daughter takes my grandson to Dr. Brian S. Martin at Children's Hospital in Oakland, but friends have recommended Dr. Richard C. Ruffalo in Waterdam Plaza on Rt. 19, Canonsburg - ###-###-####

I'd recommend Bryan Fisher on Greentree Rd. Everyone in the office is very friendly. They explain everything to the kids, make them laugh.

Our dentist is on Old Clairton Rd, right at the intersection with Green and Broadway Drives. His name is Dr. Zammerilla, and he and his staff are great. The parents are allowed in the exam room, which is nice. They have Saturday hours, and late days on Mondays. Hope that helps!

I take my daughter to see Dr. Ruffalo at 1580 McLaughlin Run Road
Pittsburgh, PA 15241. She is 20 months and has been there twice already starting when she was like 11 months old. I thought they all did reallly well with her.

I just switched my son to Kristy Cupelli. A friend of mine takes all 4 of her kids (under 7) to her and assures me she is GREAT!

We love and give our highest recommendation to the Gurtner Dental practice in Mt. Lebanon on Cochran Road (just off Rt 19 - depending on traffic I'd guess-timate 15-20 minutes from the main South Park entrance on 88 - I go past there to get to South Park every week. But IMO They are WELL worth the trip). They are a husband and wife team; wife is a pediatric dentist and handles the kids, husband cares for the adults. Not only are they both very gentle, compassionate and kind, the entire staff is as well. It's a very warm atmosphere and all are incredibly competent and caring. I can't say enough about them; we would never go anywhere else. We have been going there for over a decade - our daughter was 3 at the first visit - and she has always *LOVED* to go to the dentist because Dr. Maggie and the staff make it a great experience for the kids. I repeat - the kid can't wait to go to the dentist? Can't give a much better recommendation than that. :-) It really feels like "going in to visit friends, oh and get the teeth cleaned while we are there." LOL

(PS the other bonus of having adult and ped dentists in the same practice is that, ever since my daughter has been old enough to sit for half an hour and read while I have mine cleaned, it's now a "one stop shop" - same wonderful hygenist cleans hers, then cleans mine, then the appropriate dentist comes in to check each of us and we are out the door in one appointment block instead of two. With our crazy schedule, I really appreciate that...)

My daughter goes to Kristy Cupelli and she loves it. Her first visit the hygenist put her at ease and made her very comfortable. When Dr. Cupelli came in she was just as nice. The whole staff is great.
