I could really use some help. I am a first time mom, so have never experienced this. My DD's Pediatrician is amazing. I would love to give a gift to show my appreciation. Does anyone have any ideas? I take my DD to see him on Dec 22. So I would like to have something prepared that day! Thankss

I would think a dr. would love a Satin Hands set from MaryKay. I could fix it up in a nice gift basket! I know they are always washing their hands, and they must be dry in the winter/cold season:)

You could call the receptionist to see if he has any favorites...Starbucks gift card, a gift card to a restaurant, sporting goods store, magazine subscription...what does he like. On the other hand, I have filled a jar with Hershey's hugs and kisses with a note from my little ones, saying, "Hugs and Kisses to you for a Merry Christmas! Love, Child's Name" I've also taken bagels (sliced like bread, so they are manageable), with juices, etc. for the whole office staff. A handmade ornament with your child's picture, etc. is also nice.

Finding out his favorites and giving a gift card is one idea, or just doing a simple fruit basket of his favorite fruits is one that is fairly inexpensive if you do it yourself.

What about a letter written as if it's from your daughter? you could enclose her photo, and do her hand and footprints on the letter to create a neat stationary. My stepdaughter's pediatrician has a board with all the photos of kids they've treated, and it's neat (and reassuring) to walk by and see those smiling faces! A letter is also something they could share with their staff, who I'm sure are rarely the recipients of appreciation. :)

Also, if you do bagels, you can ask Panera Bread to slice them vertically instead of horizontally like they usually do. The vertical slice creates a nice-sized bagel chip just the perfect bite-size for spreading on some flavored cream cheese! It goes further, and lets them taste a variety of bagels.

I would recommend stopping by a grocery store on the way and picking up a tray of either cheeses or the lunch tray (sliced meats, cheese, etc.). It is hard for many in a pediatrics office to get out for lunch and this is always appreciated by the drs. and nurses who you may see many times during the year. This can be a little costly, a bakery cake (carrot cake, red-velvet is always good too). The reason I recommend store bought is because it is securely wrapped and they know the ingredients since they are on the packaging.

a few years ago i gave our pediatrician, whom we adore, a willow tree angel that was the "angel of healing". the receptionist told me that he put it in a special shadow box where he displays his personal items, awards, ect. i think it is very important to acknowledge our doctors. i imagine with the assumption that they 'make tons of money,' they do not receive the thanks they deserve. this year i sent a Christmas card with pictures and a sonic gift card for the whole office to have a coke some afternoon. hope this helps.

Seems like most people bring food - little packages, tiny boxes, baskets of candies, cookies etc - this way they can be shared with the office staff with a nice personal note

Congratulations and Happy Holidays=)When it comes to a token of appreciation for a teacher or a doctor or such something home made always hits the spot. If you have the time and/or inclination some home made fude or such will be appreciated and enjoyed. My 11 years old helped me make fudge, bark and truffles and they were a breeze to make. We bought the tiny cupcake liners, baggies and tins from the dollar store and presto. You can go to kraftfoods.com or tasteofhome.com and get the recipes or you can email me and I'll send them to you.
I couldn't believe how good they turned out. We had plenty for his teachers and to share with a few of my coworkers=)
If you dont care about home made stuff, then something for the desk will be nice.

My girls' first pediatrician was the same way, just wonderful. When he finished his residencey, he planned on moving to Dwight, Illinois - and I almost went too. I havent found a decent doctor since. His moved was scheduled at about the same time my oldest was having open-heart surgery, at the age of two. He actually held off his move to make sure that she came thru the surgery okay. I bought him a farewell gift from Brookstone - it was a small desk clock that had a picture slot and recordable feature, and I put the girls on it saying "we love you Dr. Swink" but it sounded more like "we luv yoo Docca Wink". He absolutely loved it. :}

Dr. have a lot of money!!! But, they do not have a lot of time to do much. We always call them. LOL... I think you should ask his nurse and she if there is a place he likes to go, or something. Get a gift card!!!
