I am wanting to make a photo book through an on line site. I have looked at costco, walgreens, target etc.. and the books seem kind of blah. You could only choose one theme for the entire book (all pages with same print). Does anyone have a site they would recommend to make one to use in place of a guest book at a party( people write directly on pages)? I don't want to spend a ton, but would like it with a little more flexibility for themes, pages, colors, picture placement etc...

Thanks Girls.. Used Walmart. After looking closer they did have pretty good selections. Was not aware you could change themes for each page. Nice. Give it a 4 out of 5. Shipped reasonably and was decent priced!
I like shutterfly - use it all the time and it has lots of flexbility. And a lot of times they offer free books or discounts. I have never paid more than 10.00 for one on their site because of the free offers, etc.

I have had good results using Shutterfly online. They can be pricey, but they have specials all the time.

I agree with other posters, I only use Shutterfly, love them so much and i make atleast one book a year. Also they never delte you projects or pictures that you have saved there, regardless if you purchase or not. It makes it nice because when I have family members who like the books I have made I can just click and order them one as well.
I don't have one, but I have seen Shutterfly books, and they are very nicely done!
Snapfish! I made one about a year ago. It was pretty time consuming but I want to make more. I could chose the layout for each page.

Picaboo is my favorite. They currently have a free photo book (usually valued at $39.99) for new customers. I received mine and it was even better than my previous favorite, Shutterfly. Details here:

We have always been very happy with the books we get from Snapfish. We make one ever year for the grandparents of their granddaughters last year. If you sign up on thier website you get really good discounts in your e-mail. They also partner with Walgreens, Wal-Mart and some other stores for in store pickup, you just look for the options that are available that way. It usually takes about a week to 10 days for us to get our books, but we are also ordering 5-6 at a time. I have also heard good things about Shutterfly.com

you can customize a book or pick your favorite pictures and it will put one together for you (after you have picked your backgrounds). It's very affordable.
I used Walmart and used different prints for each page and lots of different layouts. Are you sure you looked into all of the different book types and options? If so, I'm sorry that they have become so limited, since last year they seemed to be the more flexible of every one I looked into.
I haven't tried it, so I can't attest to the quality, but I like www.Dotphoto.com different options for layouts.
Hands down, shutterfly.com, you will love their site.
Blurb.com produces very nice, artist-quality hardcover books. The layout is entirely up to you, however, which could be good or bad depending on your level of comfort with that.

I absolutely love this software! I priced all different scrapbooking software. While there are some cheaper ones out there, every
other one that I saw is locked. You are "locked in" to exactly what is on the software. With the CM storybook, you can add to it; there is no limit! There is also no mess! It takes me at least 15-20 minutes to drag out all of my traditional scrapbooking stuff to prepare to work on an album. With the software, if I only have 10 minutes of spare time, I can begin working immediately. I would have paid $200 for this software and not felt cheated! The $65 is well worth it. You can purchase a digital version of all of the traditional scrapbooking supplies. The digital version is usually cheaper, plus it never runs out! You can use the paper and stickers as many times as you want. As far as the printing, I personally have a large format printer, so I am able to print all of my work at my own house (which I highly recommend)! But I know that you can send off your work and have it either printed in a book, or order single prints. I wish I knew more about that, but I have never ordered prints or albums from them. I don't think that you could use another vender to order prints. I have not been able to open my work in another program, so I don't think that would be possible. But I can absolutely recommend the software. I am doing Emma's baby book and I am more proud of that book than any other scrapbook I have done. I've used the Costco site and the pages do not print the same. You can choose different layouts, different fonts and text size. I've also used Mypublisher.com They are similar to Costco but you can also change your page color.
Mypublisher had a special, buy one get one at the time and ended up being a great gift for great grandma as well as us.
Just wanted to let you know that you don't have to use just one theme from Shutterfly. You can choose a background from a Baby Boy theme then from the Travel theme. I have made many books this way because I don't like to do all the same theme.
One thing I have started doing because I don't have time anymore to make books is: I upload my pictures whenever I have time then leisurely make my book. Then I save my book until they send me a "Free" photo book coupon because they miss me. They send me a "free" coupon once every 6 months, or so, in addition to 75 "free" prints, free photo cards. All I have to do is pay for shipping.

I have used them, and Costco.. But I am happy with their photo books.
If you want total, customization... then, it would probably be hard to find a place like that... or it would cost a ton.
For a guess book... you can always buy one from a store... and yes, or get a blank book.. from an art store... decorate it yourself and then people can write/draw in it themselves.

I like Shutterfly. You can personalize each page with a different font and color of ink. You do have to pick one theme throughout the book, but I have found the pages vary enough to make it interesting. Hope this helps.
