I am very new to the area and I dont know where there is a good preschool. I am concerned about my child's education. He was in a New York preschool last year and now I dont want to send him somewhere that he is just going to have all playtime. I want him to learn like he did last year. If you have any suggestions I am open to them. thanks

What can I do next?

HI L.,
My kids (4 and 2) go to Gateway too and I love it. If you both work full time the hours might be difficult to swing (9-1 with early care from 8-9 and 1-2). We both work full time but I'm lucky enough to have a hubby who can take and pick up and my grandmother watches them until we get home. They are also VPK, so my 4 year old is paid for by the state (bonus!). I originally signed my son up for 3 days, but he cried and cried on the days he had to stay home and luckily a 5 day slot opened for them. I can't say enough about them. The teachers on average have been there many years (my daughter's been there for 18 and 8 and one of my son's has been there for 13!). Check them out!

Hello L., welcome to Pensacola I hope you like it here. My daughter who is 4 going on 5 in November goes to a really good pre-school, it is called Amazing Grace Christian Pre-school. It is inside of a church called Grace Lutheran Church. They have had the pre-school for 7 yrs now. Although this is my first year I do love it. She enjoys it so much! They learn so much...like writing, likes/dislikes, about God, go on field trips etc. Here in Escambia County they have Voluntary Pre-kindergarten, basically if you sign up through the state and the school has room, then you get in for free. My daughter goes from Mon-Thurs 9a-1p. I only wish they had higher classes, a full school. We are looking into St Paul's next year for Kindergarten. I hope this helps you. Feel free to write anytime. I am also 26 but will be 27 on Thanksgiving...I have 2 children, 2 yr old son and my daughter! Good luck with everything! K.

Hey there
Sounds like ya need a little direction. I looked for quite a while for a good pre-school for my 3(just turned 4)yr old. I called practically everyone in the book, private and public..as I am a little picky. He just started to attend Gateway Christian in Aug. They are a Christian school, so they are more loving and supportive to those needs, however,..BUT, surprisingly, they are also less expensive than most of the regular day cares in town. And I check with a ton of them. Gateway offers many classes and days, hours, etc and don't just play...they learn tons..like a regular school...not just daycare. If gateway was not available due to classes being filled up...I would have chosen LaPetite...a little more expensive, though. They just seemed to be on a different level of learning than the others. But that would have been my second choice. But this is coming from someone who is new to the school/daycare stuff....so someone else might be able to offer better insight on some of the regular daycare places. There have been some issues with a few of them which made me uneasy. So..good luck in your endevour...hope this helped.

Welcom to Pensacola.
They have a fabulous Pre-k program at Pensacola Christian Academy. We put our daughter there at four she is now in the fourth grade. Academically she is doing work that the public schools use in 6th grade. She loves it. It is no more expensive than daycare. Hope this helps
