I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second child and fighting a NASTY cold. I've been fighting it off and on for almost 4 weeks. I went to the doctor yesterday and was told it's not strep. I am completely miserable! Does anyone know if there is anything that's safe to take other than Tylenol for the baseball in my throat or the pressure in my ears?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for everyone's help. I finally heard back from the nurse at my OB's office and was told I could take Sudafed, Sinutabs or Robitussin. Thanks again!

Talk to the Pharamcist they will know and you don't have to pay for the Dr.

Place a phone call to your OB/GYN. They should have a list of over-the-counter medications that they feel is safe for women in the various stages of their pregnancy. The Doctor or Nurse should be able to give you this information over the phone.

i would talk to both the dr and pharmacist since when i was pregnant, between my two children i had three diff obs-- and they all told me something different about the meds, some based on super conservative and some super liberal, and the pharmacists are generally very knowledgeable, but they don't know your med history (my sister has high blood pressure, so there are very few meds she could take, for example) but there are things you can do, i sure hope you feel better
seems like i was told to take sudafed when i had a really bad cold the last time i was pregnant, but it's been a while, so i don't remember now for sure.....

I had a nasty cold during my first pregnancy and the only thing I could take was actifed which is basically just acetominophen and sudafed. As long as you aren't in your first trimester, these are OK to take, but I would still ask the pharmacist. They are the BEST resource when trying to find the right OTC medicine. I hope you feel better.
