Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good, reliable seamstress/tailor in or around the Wash Park area. I have a bridesmaid dress that will need alterations for my sister's wedding in July. I'm still losing baby weight and David's Bridal wants me to have my dress to them six weeks prior to the wedding for alterations. The problem with that is I'll probably still be losing weight and end up needing more alterations. So, I'm looking for someone who can do alterations and have the dress ready in a week. Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to those of you for your responses. Unfortunately, things did not turn out well with the seamstress I found on this site. I would just recommend you all to go with someone who is known or has a well established business. I had oil stains on the front of my bridesmaid dress, which I had to dry clean the day before I left for Pennsylvania for my sister's wedding last weekend. Then, on top of that, the dress STILL didn't fit, even after 3-4 fittings! I honestly couldn't breathe in it and had to take the dress as it was back home with me to PA. My aunt looked at the dress and said it was a horrible job, as there were holes here and there and just looked awful. My aunt does some sewing, but couldn't touch my dress. She said it was just a mess, but luckily I found someone to alter it properly the DAY OF THE WEDDING! This dress has caused me a ton of stress and, thankfully, I got my money back from the original seamstress I found on this site. Please do some research if you're looking for one, as you do not want to go through what I went through this past week.

I would recommend Eric's Tailors, located across the Target on Colorado Blvd. I was in a wedding when I was 6 months pregnant. The dress I got (outfitted with extra material) looked hideous when I got it from the designer. I almost didn't even want to go to the wedding, it looked so horrible! I took a shot after reading some positive reviews about Eric's. Eric's tailors were great, and kept working with me to make the dress look wonderful. I got so many compliments on it. They were fast too. The only downfall is that they are a bit expensive. Their bridesmaid dress alterations run from 80-160 bucks. But honestly, if you need any thing more than minor alterations, I would spend the money on them-you won't be disappointed.

Hi, I have to recommend a wonderful tailor I found in Lakewood. He's an old Polish man with a business in his home. He has altered two bridesmaids dresses for me and did a fantastic job. He has very reasonable prices and is very fast. I think I paid $50 for major alterations on the top part of my dress and also had the skirt hemmed and taken in on the sides. He will work with you until the fit is just right. He also hems pants for around $8 while you wait. His name is Chester Piwowarczyk - Chester's Custom Tailor 8640 W. Mississippi Ave. ###-###-####. He's not in Wash Park but I highly recommend him. Hoope this helps, L.. I'm 35 and a mom of 4 month old daughter Lily.
