I have heard about this, but not sure how one applys for it, I am in nebraska, and trying to figure out how one applies for such a thing. Do you have apply in your town, or can it be anywhere y ou apply for it? Need to move out but the low income houses are in a creepy part of town that am not sure I want to apply at. But I really have no other choice right now unless I find some other way. Any help would be greatly appriceated. I can't even apply for assistance untill I move out of the house with my husband sighs.
I don't know anything about the application/approval process, but people with section 8 vouchers do not necessarily have to live in 'low income areas'. Section 8 vouchers are taken by any landlord who has been approved by the section 8 program. Any homeowner who is interested in renting their property can enroll their home in the program. Some section 8 homes are in very nice neighborhoods.

The first place to start would be at your city all. The workers there should be able to point you in the right direction.
I work for an agency that partners with the Housing Authority. You will need to contact your local Housing Authority and get on the waiting list. Our wait list here is 3 to 5 years long so get going now.
Section 8 vouchers are spread all over your district and different landlords will accept them. What you are referring to as low income housing is public housing. This is different than Section 8.
You will need to live in the district to have priority on the wait list.
